Davy died in a bizarre crash shortly after take-off from the infield at Talledega within 1993. The crash was from a terrifically low altitude and Davey died of head injuries. His merely passenger was Stock motor legend and fellow "Alabama Gang" partaker Red Farmer who was injured but not seriously.
Davey have recently bought the helicopter and have very set experience as it's pilot. Pilot error has be generally agreed as the cause of the crash. While Davey be an experienced pilot he didn't have lots hours in this hard to please aircraft.
