Was Can-Am at it's height faster than F1?
Question:In the early seventies some Group 7/Can-Am team ran cars near over 1000 horsepower. Could the F1 cars of the day hold kept up with them?
Answers:
They be pretty close, although the more powerful Can Am cars had a slight fold in top speed, the lighter F1 cars an top in handling.
In 1973 Mark Donahue qualified on pole at Watkins Glen for the Can Am surrounded by 1:38.8.

The same year Ronnie Petersen got the F1 pole at 1:39.6.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1973_united...
But I suppose Donahue was a better driver.
From below:
"Dan Gurney, driving a McLaren M8D Chevrolet be credited with the fastest see lap of 1:18,000 within the Can-Am race at Mosport, Ont., within 1970.
Later that year at the same track, Clay Regazzoni's fastest nouns in the Canadian Grand Prix be 1:32.200, driving a Ferrari. "
The 1970 Canadian GP was at Mont-Tremblant, not Mosport.

There be a Can-Am at Mont-Tremblant, the pole qualifying time be 1:33.

Bottom line. They be very close. Which be faster depends on the track (faster tracks favor the Can-Am) and the driver.
At it's peak, the Can-Am cars be definitely faster than their Formula One counterparts at most minuscule at some circuits.
Dan Gurney, driving a McLaren M8D Chevrolet was credited next to the fastest race knees of 1:18,000 in the Can-Am see at Mosport, Ont., in 1970.
Later that year at duplicate track, Clay Regazzoni's fastest lap contained by the Canadian Grand Prix was 1:32.200, driving a Ferrari.
In 1972, at Watkins Glen, N.Y., Peter Revson, surrounded by a McLaren M20 Chevrolet set the fastest lap of 1:44,300 contained by the Can-Am race. However, within October of the same year, Jackie Stewart, contained by a Tyrrell-Ford, had a in a hurry lap of 1:41.644 surrounded by the U.S. Grand Prix.
Those `Big-Banger' Can-Am cars were briskly.
Yes, they were slightly faster within the 1970's and very spectacular to examine because of the enormous power outputs.
by the track we still see them regularly here in England contained by classic sports car race. The McLarens are fabulous.
Was anyone a Steve Park devotee when he drove "Nextell Cup" ?
Answers:
No one with any brains.
He be as big a menace as John Andretti - aka "the stupid Andretti".
I have tons of Park's cars, I just wasn't a die rock-hard fan of Nascar next like I am immediately to be a considered a true fan of his! Both Park and Jimmie Johnson are what sparked my interest contained by Nascar (just from collecting their cars), then only before Sr.'s departure I really started watching more and more and now I am a die sturdy fan!
I be and still am a STEVE PARK fan.His win at rockingham 1 week after seniors departure was amazing! He save me from never watching racing again.
Yeah, I'm a enthusiast. I still like to see him do flawless in Trucks. I dislike intensely that he got hurt at Darlington because I estimate he would have be a good driver if he could enjoy made a comeback in Cup. Who know...maybe sooner or later!
no, but he was an okay driver.
I used to savour watching the way he could pile up a apposite race saloon!
What is a honest motor for a frist time buyer?
Answers:
Basicly every car are impossible to tell apart, the only difference is the price dude!! How much do u bring?
;)
Honda or Toyota, definitely. They get the best, most reliable cars. NEVER buy american.
honda is a good one
Honda Civic. Step up to the Si for more fun.
Reliable and express.
Need American. Go for a Jeep Wrangler. Tons of fun.
one that you can afford
Ford Focus. That's why most driving schools use them. Also, telephone your insurance provider for other details on the best and most reliable car.they cost smaller number to insure.
honda is a good choice but I also suggest that nissian's is a good choice, something thats going to be realiable and at a moral price range for you.
not a kia, not a kia, not a kia
Scion
The best saloon I've had be a Chevy Cavalier. Great on gas, and it ran terrifically well. Anything you gain, you want it to be very polite on gas. Make sure you keep it inwardly what you can ACTUALLY afford, not just what you WANT to buy.
Honda is a suitable one
Used Honda or Toyota with going on for 75,000 miles on it but in otherwise right condition.
These brands hold value very well, and have engines that now and then fail until that time 150,000 miles, while the Blue Book values usually plummet right around 75,000 miles, so they tend to be cheap.
The times we did this worked out wonderfully- my Honda Civic did not start to 'die' until about 136,000 miles, and be easy to maintain up. If it had not be in a discouraging fender that I could not afford to fix (long story), I'd probably have it still.
my first saloon was a toyota camry. I sold it for $1800 and it have over 200,000 miles and no major engine problems when I bought my second motor. If you do get a toyota or honda be prepared to enjoy your timing belt replaced. When they go out they run out!
Hit the new Lotus Elise.. or if you hold a couple extra bucks in your pocket take hold of that Enzo! What? This is under the motorsports category, you can't voice honda here you know! OOOOOH, oh yeah I went in that.
