Why does a 'K' count as a putout for the catcher?
Question:Seems kinda weird to me, so I be wondering if anybody actually know the cause behind this.
Answers:
This would just happen on a dropped third strike where on earth the catcher either tag the batter or has to throw to first.
it doesnt unless the catcher drops it on the 3rd strike and strip the runner out
cause he catchs the globe
because he didnt drop the ball
Because he is handling the bubble while making an out. The answer to the first question is wrong. The first baseman get the out in that situation next to an assist going to the catcher. It would be the same for a 6-3 groundout to the shortstop - first baseman get the out and shortstop gets the assist.
A strikeout that ends up near the catcher catching (and holding onto) the ball is score as PO-C. The reason? The catcher is the later man to touch the ball when the out is record. If he drops a third strike and must throw it to first, it is scored A-C, PO-1B. As capably, the pitcher never gets an assist on a strikeout, regardless of who get the putout.
For the same motivation that the Mets took a catcher as their very first pick contained by the expansion draft - someone has to confine the ball, or you hold a lot of passed ball.
That put out isn't automatic, though. If the catcher doesn't catch the orb, he has to retrieve it and sticky label the runner, or retrieve it and throw down to first to complete the strikeout. If he can't retrieve the ball, and first is unoccupied or settled with 2 out, the batter-runner. If the runner reach safely, it's still a strikeout for the pitcher and against the batter, but the runner is not dangerous on either a strike out/wild pitch or strike out / passed globe, as determined by the official scorer.
because he catch the balll
Why doesn't MLB add on another windy card troop to the playoffs. It is so easier said than done to breed the playoffs contained by baseball.
Question:On the flip side the NBA and NHL teams enjoy it to easy, partly teams produce the playoffs. I think the NFL have it right with two wildcard team.
Answers:
It's supposed to be hard to attain to post-season in any sport. Baseball have already gone too far in allowing a gibbering card team. You ought to hold to WIN something in demand to go forwards, and a out of control card team hasn't won a article. A wild card is a consolation prize.
Post season should belong to the division winner only. In respectively league, give the division defeater with the best overall text a first-round bye, while the others play three games for the right to face the best within their league for a best-of-5 LCS. Do it with no past its sell-by date days in any the best of 3 or the best of 5 series, but with an rotten day within between. Then, bring on the other league.
Just because other sports allow everyone and his uncle into post-season play doesn't make it right. It make it money grab. A couple of years ago, the Celtics made it into the NBA post-season beside a LOSING record. How does anyone prove a system that allows for that? And hockey? They let so masses teams contained by the the teams going to the finals acquire all of 3 months of an off-season. How do you recuperate and get equipped for the next season within just 3 months?
because consequently there would be an abnormal amount of teams within the playoffs
The next renovate for the playoffs is to extend the division series to the best 4 of 7. A couple of years ago, Selig proposed 2 wildcards in respectively league in a one-game playoff.
It get shot down by either the owners or the grade & file.
The one blustery card team make the 162 game season significant and is designed to ensure quality playoff games. As you can see by the NBA's eastern conference only calling a game a playoff spectator sport doesn't ensure that it will be fun to watch. Plus if baseball be to add another round it would meeting the nba/nhl in rounds.
It would be watered down! The system to be precise currently in place works economically. Look how watered down the NHL playoff are!
There are too many games as it is...another round of playoffs would push the WS more into Nov...a Cleveland/Chicago series would really blow at that time of the year.
NHL, NBA & MLS own too many team in the playoffs...
Once again the NFL is the gold ingots standard.
baseball is the only league that does it right. this year surrounded by baseball and hockey, the first rounds were taking up to 2 weeks to finish. frequent teams are getting contained by with sub .500 paperwork. that's stupid. football can have playoff byes because it's individual a one game series and they lone play at most 20 games if they make the superbowl.
the baseball season is twice as long as hockey and basketball and to stretch out the playoffs would be stupid. you'd be playing world series games within the snow for sure.
in baseball, simply the best make the playoffs and it make the regular season way more significant.
after 162 regular season games, it would be sad to see a 100 team game winning squad lose to a 80 game prizewinning team. what's the point of have the regular season then.
baseball does it right. basketball and hockey entail to only allow 8 team in. not 8 on respectively division.
and it wasn't to long ago in baseball that single 4 teams made the playoffs total. that be great. but now nearby are too many team. 8 is perfect.
"Its so tricky to make the playoffs contained by baseball". And that's a BAD thing? It SHOULD be frozen to make the playoffs, surrounded by any sport. Only the very best team, who have earn the right to be there through exceptional play during the regular season should be within the post season-that's what the regular season is for. I think the NBA and the NHL are ridiculous. Regular season excellence finances almost nothing contained by those two sports when half the team get to play for the league contest. That's completely unfair to the clubs that busted to undertake excellence during the regular season. Baseball should NOT increase the number of teams making the playoffs.
Since i missed this one?
Question:Wouldn't it be great if Bonds pursuit of "the record" completely overshadows Biggio's pursuit of his milestone.
bonds is a cheater. has he ever done anyting bar hit home runs? never won a world series, biggio has not any, but who has cause more contreversy? bonds, who is under the radar and help in the community? biggio. its up to yall to speak.
Answers:
Actually, Bonds has done more than hit home runs, as his 500 stolen basis will tell you. Also, his 8 Gold Gloves will make clear to you he was a pretty virtuous fielder. You're obviously an Astros aficionado that's upset that Craig Biggio isn't getting recognition for his pursuit of 3000 hits, but honestly, what's the bigger accomplishment? Passing Hank Aaron or cassette your 3000th hit. Sorry pal, but Bonds have to be a more intriguing story than Biggio, though I will root for him to get to 3000 hits.
bonds
"he cheated on his wife, his taxes, and the game"
curt schilling
bond will overshadows biggio' pursuit he will even break more account i think
The problem near Barry Bonds is that most "new" fans to baseball mull over he is nothing but a "juiced up" home run hitter. The truth is, he have Hall of Fame numbers before his current homer surge and would hold been better served to finish out his occupation without taking "the clear". It is understandable he has taken steroids of some sort of times past five plus years, but he still a much better player overall than Biggio.
Biggio is a feel honest guy who is good for the spectator sport. He'll get his 3,000 hits and relatives in Houston should jump absolutely nuts. It is economically deserved. When Bonds rounds the bases after hitting number 756 nearby will probably be silence, unless of course within happens it San Francisco.
