If a batter spins around to gain out of the passageway of a pitch and his hand cross the plate is it a strike?
Question:The bat does not leave his shoulder
Answers:
Not unless the pitch crossed the strike zone, you enjoy to make an attempt to hit the pitch which may be referred to as "breaking your wrist".
yes the rules clearly state that a full swing is when the bat crosses 3/4 of the plate within for regardless of where the pitch be if it was considered a full swing its a strike even if he be moving to avoid getting hit.
If he is spinning in the direction that he would be swinging, and his bat breaks the plane of the plate, next yes. If he spins around and makes contact next to the ball, and it go into play, it would be a hit.
no. only path its a strike is if the barrel of the bat get off the shoulders and through the strike zone.
You do see this from time to time, and the pitch is a strike individual if it's called one, ie if it pass through the strike zone as it crosses the plate. But if the batter is spinning out of the way, he can't minister to but take the bat next to him. However, If the bat didn't leave his shoulder, next he hasn't even started to swing, let alone try to check his swing.
The catcher, however, will seemingly other point to the appropriate umpire to ask for an appeal.
The hands are irrelevant; the bat is. If a right-handed batter spins to his moved out and keeps the bat up, he's probably not swinging. But if he drops the bat organizer down and appears to be trying to deflect the ball away near the bat, he's going to be charged with a strike.
There is no definition of a swing contained by the rules, so no one here can really answer the quiz definitively -- as I'm sure you're trying to get an answer for a specific situation you witnessed.
But if, as you enunciate, the bat never left the shoulder, it's not a swing, as the batter did not strike at the bubble.
In determining whether a batter has swung, the plate umpire considers whether the batter be trying to hit the ball. One criterion umpire use is whether the barrel go beyond the batter's body.
not many batter are going to turn so that their face is to the globe, it should come naturally that they turn their back into it, and if they do, then it's not a strike
To strike at the pitch the batter must swing. THAT is what the rules state ( love the 3/4 explanation which is total bunk). If the bat never gone the shoulder it cannot be called a swining strike
