Yes in reality they are. The New York Yankees won 26 World Series in 100 years, that routine they won more than 1/4 of the years. And they also have the best squad history winning text, so yeah the New York Yankees are the franchise.

It depends on how you define "most champion franchise". They have the most World Series championship (26) and the best winning percentage over the duration of the franchise (9289-7094 record, .567 leading pct.). The team that have won the most games, ever, is the Giants, who've won 10113 games since they were founded within 1883.
In regard to the luxury toll of MLB, where on earth does the money jump after one taken from the Yankees, Red Sox, etc.

It`s spread out among small market team.
I don't know what MLB's cut is, but supposedly a good chunk go to the low revenue teams. The luxury duty is MLB's version of revenue sharing, to lend a hand the guys that don't make much or any profit stay above marine.
It also helps small open market teams stay competitive. The Yanks enjoy been helping World Series winner for a few years now. They buy a troop to win a world series and then bequeath money to the team that if truth be told does win it. Seems fair.

Mark Mulder did indeed stick with the Cardinals. He's still recovering from surgery. I'm not sure if he's projected to pitch this year.
And Steven Trachsel is a Baltimore Oriole, he signed on pretty behind in the process but still manage to secure a spot surrounded by their rotation thanks to the injury to fellow former-Met, Kris Benson.
