There is a chance that his beard give him an edge of confidence. He have not publicly claimed this nor denied it so it is inconclusive. However, I personally infer he plays well next to or without the beard.

B. Davis is a great player because he have SKILLS. He is definitely one of the toughest players to guard within the NBA. People seem to hold forgotten how good he is because of his injuries. Looks approaching he's back to his infirm self...crossovers, hesitation dribbling, step stern jumpers, finger rolls, dunks. The record goes on and it have nothing to do beside his bread or beard!
