Why the grim obverse Bud?
Boxing fans other seem to live surrounded by the past and are pessimistic most of the time. So my interrogate is why are boxing fans cynical a lot of the time and other living in former times? I take the attitude that the best is all the same to come.Answers: Its not really being denial but pessimistic yes. Boxing for most such as myself is like a second religion which u respect and preserve when u have to. All of us hold our favorite fighters and defend them to the terminate. But what it really comes down to is the memories, where u be at when fighter x fought participant z. The memories of being contained by an arena when history was made such as a huge upset or a story broken. The pessimism comes from seeing too many infantile fighters come up with 20 possibly 30 fights underneath their belt and perhaps 1 or 2 win against good opponent and calling themselves ''All time great''. I have see fighters over the years who had the world at their foot, Pryor, Michael Nunn, Tommy Morrison, Tony Ayala, Tyson, the list go on and on who blew it and broke their die hard fan's heart. So its hard to seize behind a warrior and nomatter how good he is stand at the rear him because fighters today want the bling and the money instead of fighting the best around them. We as box fans be blessed with a great 07' where on earth great fighters actually fought eachother. I consider the 70's 80's and part of the 90's spoiled most of the true boxing fan who expect 5 or more superfights a year. And now that boxing have gone strickley cable alot of fans are shutout from seeing great fight and fighters. And I feel the best IS nonetheless to come. Boxing goes into lulls later BOOM an explosion of talent comes along. Wait until after the Olympics and u will see.
Quite simple in boxing's hey time it had 90% of the mannish population doing it, adoring it and trying to make money out of it.
In the rash 20th century there be no pro golf, pro tennis, 5 different pro football codes in the world, no olympic sponsorship/school team for 50 different sports, and time to do much sport for fun when you are working a 12 hour day.
Boxing lost nearly 75% of its numbers to all these other sports.
Its well brought-up you like boxing. Its still one of the biggest sports out near and will stay the biggest combat sport for all time I would read aloud.
But the golden era has certianly olden and we will not get it pay for.
