Was Rocky Marciano somewhat overrated?
Answers:
Yes.
Six defenses against old men and never weres. He be extremely well manage.
Are you nuts? 49-0?? That man was rock solid! No, not overrated at adjectives!
No, Marciano was the type of enemy who would take six punches to donate one. However that one could be devastating, to his opponent.
how could the solitary undefeated heavyweight champ be OVERrated?
no one EVER spank him
EVER
To be the only entity to accomplish something can not be overrated. Until other accomplish what he did you can not say he isn't one of the greatest if the greatest. It would be like adage the undefeated 72 dolphins were overrated, but contained by the NFL it is mentioned every year .
His record be impressive. Perhaps he should hold defended his title more often, I agree beside that. However, talking within pound for pound terms; Just look at his distance from the ground. Rocky Marciano was relatively short, and be not the most physically imposing winner, meaning he possessed great skills.
Well, near is a case that Marciano fought some over-the-hill fighters. (Jersey Joe Walcott, Joe Louis, The mongoose Archie Moore come to mind.) So yeah. But Also can you entitle another fighter who retired (Not forced) Undefeated?
Smitty I do not feel he is overrated. I would rank Louis, Ali, and Jack Johnson as better than he is. I would status Marciano's Susie Q as the best of anyone. Marciano had a extraordinarily good trainer, a obedient chin, and a training regimen that kept him from losing any fights. Louis is planned because I feel that surrounded by his prime Louis would have pace Marciano.
No Smitty Rocky (Rocco) Marciano (Marchegiano 1923-1969 was not overrated sir! The reality remains that he is most certainly underrate. Everybody likes to put the Rock down axiom he fought old wash up fighters and he was too small The critics want to try and appropriate away his stature in boxing history. If you look at closely of the more modern heavyweights you see under trained out of condition and butter fighters. It is fact that Rocky trained by doing 12-15 miles of roadwork day after day to build his stamina and endurance and his training regimen be legendary and true. As far as age differences Marciano be 9 yrs younger than Walcott when they fought. Ali was 10 yrs younger than Liston. Marciano be 10 yrs younger than Archie Moore and Ali was 19 yrs younger. Tyson be 12 yrs younger than Bonecrusher Smith and 14 yrs younger than Trevor Berbick. Joe Louis weas 12 yrs younger than James Braddock. When Marciano fought Louis, Louis was seeking another shot at the title. And merely who was Rocky supposed to flay for the title other than Walcott who definetly be not a washed up participant with a dictation of 53-16-1 before their skirmish. LaStarza and Cockell were contemporaries of Marciano and LaStarza be undefeated when they met the first time. Ezzard Charles was 2 yrs elder than Rocky with a dictation of 72-10- with 54 KO'S beforehand their first fight just a washed up gunfighter. When he fought Archie Moore, Moore was disturbance demanding a title shot earning his instrument to the #1 contender spot with a account of 150-22- 121 kayo's hardly a wash up fighter any. Before winning the title he hit Bernie Reynolds who was 52-9 since their fight. Rocco by 3rd round kayo, Vino be 27-3 and Rocco nearly killed him by 6th round kayo. Matthews be 78-4-1 with 57 kayo's in the past their fight. Rocco rout him in 2 rounds. Layne be 34-1-2 with 24 kayo's beforehand their fight and favored to win but again Rocco prevailed by 6th round knockout. Rocky have a knockout ratio of 88% Foreman 87% Frazier 84%. He was also harder to hit than is perceived by several so called boxing experts. He have a deceptive style as he rolled near punches and bobbed and weaved effectively. He get into a very low crouch so low opponent couldn't get a clear shot. Ali told Angelo Dundee that he be surprised at how hard Marciano be to hit with his nudge. And finally some of his contemporaries had the following to influence; Archie Moore said Rocky's will to win made him unbeatable. Joe Louis said he didn't resembling to be crowded and that he could have never crushed him. George Foreman said look at his record, nobody pounding him and you can't take that away from him. Joe Frazier said Joe Louis is the greatest and Rocky is 2nd to solitary him. Angelo Dundee said he is the most underrated heavyweight of adjectives time and had more than they give him credit for. He was talented of getting those bigger and heavier guys and destroying them. Sonny Liston said he was one of the greatest champion ever as he refused to adopt defeat and nobody smash him.
In closing I must say so several times Rocky gets disrespected for his great accomplishment surrounded by the ring and I came out beside some facts on the subject instead of mere opinions. Any knowledgable boxing expert have to rank him at smallest in their top 5.
Maybe a bit, but from the times, nearby wasn't any impressive heavy, with Louis, Walcott, and Charles beyond their best years.Even if they be in their primes and routed Rock, he still would've given all three hell.
I can't top toughguy's answer. Sorry, bluedevil's answer. Marciano have to be ranked surrounded by the top 5 on the all time heavyweight record.
Hard to compare different eras but i'd say overrated. Can't argue next to fans however, he didn't lose so i'd utter it's an unwinnable debate for someone who thinks he wasn't that upright. I think Tyson within his prime was probably the best ever. Knock you out next to either appendage at anytime.
How can a 49-0 record be overrated? He whip the best of his day. That's adjectives anyone can ask.
It's not so much that he's overrated, he just come along at the right time. If he would have have to fight surrounded by the 70s with the Alis, Foremans, Fraziers, Nortons, etc. ... He would own gotten knocked smooth out !! Period !!
No he be a great undisputed and undeated champion. All the race who dislike him want to compare him to other fighters of different boxing eras. In truth no one know how he would have done against them.
He be 49-0. All anybody had to do be beat him. It's not his eccentricity they couldn't do it. How can you be overrated if you never lost?
10-15 yrs ago i would have said hell yes. but very soon i say he is one of the greatest heavyweight of adjectives time. he was continual punching.too bad he retired untimely. he would have fought patterson johanson etc. and we would own more to rate him on.
was going to answer this, but bluedevil's answer is pure pugilistic poetry. bluedevil; sir, i craving my father and grandfather were alive to read it. if they be, then 3 generation of boxers would stand in procession to shake your hand
He assault Joe Louis' *** lol
with adjectives due respect to the rocky-philes, i grant you adjectives that rocky was one tough motha' who know no retreat and won on heart and determination and guts. however, in the cold neutral of truth, rocky's claim to fame be not having lost as a professional. however, he did lose, as an amateur, to a man name coley wallace. as a pro, his opposition be questionable, at best. louis was instrument past his prime and on his, what, 2nd attempt at a comeback? walcott, be even older and archie moore be probably older even so. ezzard charles was a great b-level gunfighter, at best; perhaps underrate. but certainly not contained by the same league as ali, louis, and johnson, and rocky's other victims read smaller quantity like a "who's who? and more resembling a "who's that?" all of these fighters give him trouble and walcott and moore had rocky on the sheet. the point is rocky could be knocked down by b-level heavyweights(no offense to archie: a great, fabled lt hvywt, but not the toughest hvywt), now if archie moore(a unconscious light heavy) could knock the rock down, conjure what someone like iron mike would've done surrounded by his prime. also consider that most latter day heavy would've outweighed rocky by some 30-35+ lbs. add to that the certainty that latter day fighters have more speed, more strength, etc., than rocky, it doesn't bode well for him, i am afraid. am sorry, but i in recent times don't see any way rocky could pounding tyson, ali, etc. and find him grossly overrated!

Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Ricky Hatton who win?
Question:One of the best British fighters against the possibly the best Mexican fighter ever.
Jr. Welterweights 15 rounds, at their best at this mass.
Answers:
Hey Brent! Good question sir! Hatton is a really upright fighter and hugely aggressive inside the ring which would be his undoing against Chavez who throws some pretty man left hooks and body shots. While the scrap lasts, at hand would be plenty of action and some brutal exchanges. At his best I believe that Chavez is better than Hatton and have more punching power. I see the refereee stopping this fight surrounded by round 9.
R U SERIOUS??JULIO IS WORN OUT...RICKY HATTON WINS!
The best light welterweight ion the world at the momernt is Ricky hatton. Hios recent fight ahve been tough but he have stood strong and come through them. He is currently 42 fights unbeated and I can't see anyone contained by the near adjectives beating him
within their prime, Chavez
You know how highly i rate Hatton but surely this isnt a serious sound out Brent, Chavez is in my eyes the greatest Mexican enemy of all time, Hatton may resourcefully of beaten Chavez towards the conclusion of his career resembling a few very lucky fighters did, but if Hatton fought Chavez contained by his prime i dont think Hatton last 8 rounds at the very most. Chavez have more power, more aggression and more skill.
Bet you never thought you would see me write something like this.
the stronger one
Bad query, you can't put Hatton in matching catergory as Chavez yet, he has'nt trounced anybody except a 38 year old Kosta Tsyzu who had'nt fought for 2 years. Hatton is honourable, he's a highly skilled pure boxer, beside intelligence and heart, but he's not great. I saw his last be at odds and he was chicken.
Ricky win this one. chavez won a lot of his fight against no name opponets within mexico. He had a beef up record. he be also given a few gifts on some of the score cards against some opponent like pernel whitaker and the stoppage of meldrick taylor. also others. Chavez be a good soldier but over rated.
Hatton get a career climax beating, Hatton is person exposed little by little as he continues to fight right opposition surrounded by the US,he is no nowhere near Chavez' rank!
Dude, Chavez would teach Hatton a point or a hundred. Chavez had the testicular fortitude and ample boxing skills to seriously put him to shame. In his prime of coarse.
Close fight, Chavez by dec.
In their prime definately chavez.
HATTON - W 41 (KO's 30) TF 41 - W pct 84% - KO pct 73% - win over Pendleton and Tszyu - KO'ed by none
As of 2005 he was #50 rank pound 4 pound current fighter.
He must argue more bouts in America.
CHAVEZ - W 108 (KO's 86) TF 116 - W pct 97% - KO pct 74% - win over Lockridge, Rosario, Taylor{2}, R. Maywether,Camacho, Ramirez and Limon - KO'ed by Tszyu and De La Hoya[2] - #50 ranked puncher - #18 rank fighter
Titles at 130, 135 and 140
This is a perfect bout, Tszyu KO'ed Chavez but was KO'ed by Hatton. Remember that styles take home a fight not who slaughter who. Chavez was an all-time great. I pick Chavez surrounded by 15 rd unanimous decision next to Hatton barely holding on at the terminate.
In Chavez' prime, I assume
No Contest
Chavez flattens Hatton in 6
not a soul could beat chavez within his prime, except taylor but not hatton.
