What did you construe of Shannon Briggs Saturday hours of darkness?

Question:I didn't get a luck to see his ko win over Sergei Liakhovich Saturday night so basically wondering if anyone saw it and is Briggs a legit threat to unify the belts? He's have a up and down career. I hear that the fight be pretty boring until the knock out.
Answers:

Shannon Briggs looked like trash. If Lyakhovich won the end round or if that last round be a draw, Lyakhovich wins by decree! He KO'd Lyakhovich with 1 second disappeared.

The whole disagree he threw 1 punch at a time. He wasn't in shape. I devise maybe he's TOO big. He reminds me of Bob Sapp. All you own to do is stay away early and seize him tired.

Briggs was set to go down himself surrounded by the last round of that box and he didn't really take lots big clean shots.

If he have any stamina he may be good, but he doesn't.

This together fight be just boring. It looked approaching he did NO road work at all. He would bring back Lyakhovich in trouble near 1 punch and then wouldn't follow him to finish, even contained by the early rounds. The fan were booing the encounter every round.

The announcers were practically screaming at him to follow up when he get Lyakhovich in trouble.

You can scrutinize the KO at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl4a1pnox...

You'll see, even when Briggs was within better shape, as in the Lewis come to blows, he comes out really good rash but after the first couple rounds he's out of gas.

Lennox Lewis vs. Briggs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bwsaic16...

I think he might know how to beat Maskaev but Valuev and Klitschko would defeat the crap out of him, so no way he unite the titles.

I fully expect Emanuel Steward, Klitschko's trainer, to push for a fight beside Briggs.
Y'know honestly if there be a 'threat' a tyson, lennox lewis, or even a gerry cooney, I could say, heck naw, he ain't a threat. But uh.. near the weird promotions of fight & boxers ducking this & that & so & so calling out such & such and blase blah, honestly, he could technically be considered a threat. But not a real unify one, if that's what you're wondering.
This was minus a doubt the worst heavyweight fight I ever saw. Briggs could just get his breath after round three. At times at hand were smaller amount than 10 puncges thrown in a round by both fighters. The crowd surrounded by Phoenix bood from round one til the end. All Briggs could do be try to counter the other guys punches with big and snatched left hooks. He hurt the other guy once within about the 6yh round but be almost too tired to try to take him out. In the 10th round the european guys coordinator told him in no doubtful terms " you are not going to knock Briggs out so win the collide by boxing and getting the decision. The fool didn't listen and get knocked out, and out of the ring when the intermediary stopped the fight at 2:59 of the 12th round. The integral thing nice of looked like a Don King fixer upper so that Briggs would find one more payday and next give a return to the euro guy, I will guarantee you that Briggs will not win another pro brawl. He was 260 pounds and looked muscl bound beyond believe.. It be a terrible encounter and made boxing, espcially heavyweight to look like bums who wouldn't ending 2 minutes with an classic fight swordfighter.

Would you consider Iran Barkley a great combatant?

Question:I used to love watching Barkley in his prime. He be a strong, aggressive fighter who fought some upright boxers, but i wouldn't say he be great. My buddy seems to come up with so cause he whip Tommy Hearns twice. But Barkley lost to fighters like James Toney, Nigel Benn(though controversial), Michael Nunn, and Roberto Duran(in a spirited time of war!). What do you think of Iran as a competitor? Would love to hear the opinions of Brent F, Brad M, Toughguy, Pancho, Smitty, Santana D, and Black panther among others on this topic! I respect adjectives you guys boxing knowledge!
Answers:

angelic, not great.
Michael Nunn was a discouraging *** for a little while.I believe Iran batter Hearns late surrounded by Hearns career? Iran be a puncher / brawler.reminds me a little of Hagler. He took some massive shots.
Iran be so much fun to watch. I wouldn't phone up him great. I would say he have a great heart and a great fighting spirit within him. Still Toney schooled him near far superior technique. Duran who was nowhere close by the size and past his prime be able to supply Iran all he could knob. Bottom line is Barkley could be outboxed by well brought-up boxers. His record be never great. He was a tribute to the sport but not great. I consider him incredibly similar to Mickey Ward with conceivably a little more unprocessed talent.

How was Benn win controversial, I regard Benn won by KO.
Barkley was tough as nail fighter and a multiple winner in 3 counterbalance classes. I wouldn't classify him as great. From what I have hear he trained hard but seem to lose focus in some of his fight. 12 of his losses came within the last few years of his occupation and he lost a great many of those as a heavyweight. A overnight case of a fighter not bringing his punch/chin up next to him as he moved up in bulk. I give him credit though, he did pummel Hearns twice and ducked no one. The Duran skirmish was a classic! That he must be given credit for. I'd also put him up against a great oodles of today's middle, super middle and light heavy. When he was on his spectator sport, he would probably beat a great oodles of them.
Cool Breeze ~
In my opinion, Iran Barkley be a very flawless tough fighter who could contribute as well as would nick, tough as nails. Great and Iran really don't belong surrounded by the same sentence except when one mentions "He fought some GREAT fighters, Herans & Duran.
There should be a special shrine built for tough as nail guys who were on the cusp of greatness or really tough Hombre's who tried so concrete but never made it Meldrick Taylor, Jeff Fenech, Troy Dorsey, Rodin Blake, Freddie Roach, Doug DeWitt, Davey Hilton and a host of others and at the forefront of these really good fighters would be Iran "The Blade" Barkley.
His fight with Duran and Hearns be 80's classics that a true fight admirer would never get tired of watching. Iran be good for boxing, warfare any one at any time. There's not one single person who could ever haul up Iran of Ducking anybody.
Good question sir! I enjoy a video of the Barkley vs Duran fight. What a time of war that was! Barkely be about as tough a competitor as you will ever see able to give somebody a lift tremendous punishment and turn around and deliver punishment in return. He be good adequate to be champion and to slaughter Thomas Hearns so he was deeply good indeed. Great though? I don't really consider him a great competitor because he lost some fights he shouldn't enjoy after moving up in counterweight class.
Iran was a true warrior who fought some great fighters and some great fight, but i don't really consider him to be a great fighter. When you devise of the great fighters of his era you think of Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Pryor, Arguello(80's) and Toney, Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker(90's)and fighters of that vastness, you just don't deem of Iran as a great fighter but a honourable, solid, tough pro who would fight anyone. Yes, he did conquer Hearns twice and he's the only man that can claim that but i presume Hearns was bygone his prime when he fought Barkley so that might take for a moment luster of those victories (just a touch!) but Iran was definitely a good participant but to call him great would be a stretch. One of my favorite fighters though! A warrior to the max!
What's up Cool Breeze? That be a hell of a nickname vertebrae in the daylight also it was the first name of a blaxploitation movie.

Barkley - W 43 (KO's 28) TF 63 - W pct 68% - KO pct 44% - wins over Hearns{2}, G. Coetzee, M. Olajide, W. Scypion and J. Kinchen - KO'ed by Toney, Benn, Simms and others
Titles at 160, 168 and 175

Barkley be a good tough warrior with a great heart. He reminded me of Saad Muhammad, the route he could come back from the insensible in a bout while crying and bleeding at indistinguishable time.

I rank him 14th of alltime as a Middle wt.
No. He be a very upright fighter that be a three time champ and who beat Hearns twice, but that have to be looked at in context.

There are plenty of titles up for grab and his wins against Hearns prove that styles cause fights.

In his prime, he lost to guys close to Sumbu Kalambay, Robbie Simms and Roberto Duran.
