On 18 March 2007 (the day after Pakistan's astonishing defeat by Ireland) Bob Woolmer be found unconscious contained by his 12th floor room of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. On Wednesday 21 March, following an inconclusive autopsy, the Jamaican Police announced that they were treating Woolmer's loss as suspicious and that they had informed Woolmer's ethnic group of this. The formal results of the autopsy would not be announced until after the results of toxicology reports. On the 22 March the Jamaican Police announced that they were seeking the proposal of a second pathologist from America. The police also seized CCTV footage from the hotel to see whether anyone could have enter Woolmer's room.
The Deputy Commissioner of Jamaican Police, Mark Shields, said "There is no evidence it's a homicide, but we're waiting for further information from the pathologist before making any more statements". When asked if the investigation be a murder investigation, he added "No, we are not saying that."
On March 22, Jamaican Police confirmed that his annihilation is now anyone treated as murder.
