you want a mtn bike for touring? ie carrying around food and shelter? thats foolish. if you want a mtn bike for mtn riding and occasional racing, thats smart... anyway, within are maybe 10 different companies who sort good dual suspension mtn bikes inside your price range. the giant trance is a four inch travel bike that climbs close to it has 2 inches and decends approaching it has 5... neutral enough, low center of gravity, near a three way adjustable reverse shock... the trance 2 is within your budget, glib. slightly heavier but much more durable would be the kona king kikapu, which goes to adjectives lengths to be a durable 4 inch travel do everything bike. not as bling as a cannondale, but much more durable. specialized should also not be discounted, thier stumpjumper fsr design have been around as long as kona's design, and climbs and decends in good health...

Helmet Suggestions for Pashley Ladies Bike?
Question:Hi! I have a Pashley Princess bike and am looking for a helmet. It seem sad to buy such a cool vintage-like bike and later wear a sleek roadster helmet. Any ideas for a helmet beside a similiar dutch/vintage style? Thanks!

I have an feeble Raleigh DL1, same design as your Pashley. When I was looking for a helmet I have the same hypothesis, a decent helmet that looked pious with the bike. I run across the Bell "Faction". It is a BMX helmet and has a better CPSC Bicycle Safety Standard Certified rating than most really expensive road bike helmets. It also has the vinatge look that I thought would stir nicely next to my Raleigh. I got mine surrounded by matte black but they come in oodles colors. Most sports stores and bike shops have them. It cost me give or take a few $35.00

It is true not very several helmets take into consideration the classical look so to speak.
Get one that is to say comfortable and good. Then do some art work: Things resembling a cover made of a nice draper cloth. Probably many different covers within different cloth patterns to progress with the mode you dress and the season.
They could be made with some springy band around so as to exchange them smoothly.
Or get a "small" helmet that you can fit inside a larger fad cap or helmet (velcro might hold it).

Bell do a rain cover for their helmets that covers up the unsightly holes. That might do the trick. However, those holes are nearby to cool you down, so I wouldn't really recommend it for long journeys or summer cycling.
Anyway, in attendance is research that suggests that wearing a helmet makes you even more adjectives than not wearing one. See the CTC site...

When be bianchi owned by piaggio?
Question:A group of up are debating when and if Piaggio ever owned Bianchi. I remember wanting a Bianchi because they were owned by the parent company of my other love Vespa. Anyone who can point us surrounded by the right direction would be appreciated.

Piaggio was the corporation that owned Bianchi and Vespa within the early 1980s. The Piaggio decal appeared on the form tube of all the models for a short extent. There may also have be a Piaggio model, but I'm not aware of it.
In 1969 Piaggio acquired the historic motorcycle brand Gilera; while production of large-capacity bikes at the Gilera factory surrounded by Arcore, North Italy, ceased surrounded by 1993, the Gilera brand continues to adorn Piaggio's sport scooters and bedside light motorcycles.
In March 1997, Piaggio added two innovative models, the scooter-motorcycle cross Runner and the off-road Stalker, to the Gilera stable. Between 1980 and 1987, Piaggio also acquired the Bianchi and Puch brands for bicycles and mopeds respectively. Cheers .

How can I come up beside a clip-like solution so I can mountain bike within my ski boots?
Question:I am in a see which transistion from biking to uphill skiing. I want to wear my AT Ski Boots for the bike but want to strap or clip in so I catch full productity. Any ideas?
Answers:
The ski boots are predictable to be too large to use a traditional toe clip. Skip the toe clip and use a mountain bike enclose type pedal. To add power, add on a couple of toe clip straps. With the large size of the boots, you may enjoy to use two straps per pedal attached together in series. You may also want to look at the "accept trap" style cage pedals that enjoy a much larger surface area. Add the two straps per side and you're surrounded by business. The ski boots should be stiff enough that the straps won't gouge into your foot.
Your ski boots have so much substance that you won't clear the crankarms on each revolution. Plus, the binding systems for ski boots versus clipless pedals for bicycles aren't compatible.
I don't deem this is a starter. Your ski-boots will be too wide and if clipped within, they'll catch the cranks respectively revolution of the pedals.
No matter what brand of clips you use you need a special sole on your shoes, or shoes that are authoritarian enough to walk into pedal cages.
My suggestion - find specialised shoes for both sports that you can adapt fast - velcro fastener etc.
