I'm 5'11". What is the best size mountain bike for me, 17.5" or 19"?

Answers:

Try them out, and see what you like!!!
17.5
its upto you
The one you can straddle. If you can stand up beside both feet on the ground and you bike form is comfortably in your crotch nouns, then you hold a good size bike for you.
it depends not on your altitude, but on the length of your legs. if you own stumps, 17.5'' should be fine. if you are daddy long-legs, go near the 19''
Bigger is better 19"..
You really need to stir try out both sizes of the same model - simply sit and adjust them to your size and feel which one suits you best ...

Have fun ;^)
17.5" would be nice..as long as its comfortable 4u.If u enjoy long legs, try 19".
17.5 bike is suitable for u
Frame size is based on your inseam, not your increase.

You should be able to comfortably straddle the top lump of the frame, with your foot flat on the ground. If the frame is too big, you will feel pressure on your boys when you try to straddle the frame.

If the frame is too small, next you will not be able to elevate the seat large enough to distribute you full leg extension on the pedals.

So it may end up self a compromise which size you choose.
if you like to bounce around on it, then 17.5, but if you want to see it on flat suface, then 19
The proper bike other depends on the riders leg length. Go to a bike shop and stand astride a few to feel what fits you.
the true awnser is contained by your inseam and how you plan to ride it
you need min of 2 inch clearance when standing over the top tube, next to shoes on flat footed
next if your rode riding screw that getas big as frame as you can stand over, give you more rigidity on response from your road work with smaller amount bend on your body
in the other extreme, switch fund trails, and stunt trial youll need several inches
i prefer 4 inches of clearance, for lots of lean contained by turns, and i like to soar
but there is differnt fits per company every company measures differntly basically like shoes
It depends how long your legs are. Generally I'd right to be heard the 17.5 unless your legs are extreemly long compaired to your torso. If your inseam is 32 or less progress with the 17.5.
they will specifically fit you at a bike shop
I don`t know even a 16,but 17.5 max
smaller is lighter, but bigger may fit you better

get thee to your local bike shop and find fitted!
26 inch., make sure it get suspension.
Due to variances in fork height, traditional measurements and advice simply don't work at all--especially on mountain bikes and cyclocross.

I'm the same stage and would normally ride the taller bike. However, I hold loved or hated the ride on a few of the shorter bikes. The difference wasn't frame size--it be that the shorter bikes I just loved have longer forks. This made for a shorter reach for the handlebars, a lighter bike, and a more lively, much faster ride. This effect vary on every single bike.

So, go for some testing drives.

The usual answer is to get the biggest bike you can stand over. This is completly wrong for sportive mountain bikes and their comfort cousins. Mountain bikes can own either road-ish ergonomics, so that you would necessitate a bigger size; or, they can have sportive ergonomics so that you would stipulation a smaller size.

The space between the top of the front tire and the forks (tire clearance) can sometimes give a clue. However, manufacturer do all sorts of inconsistent hokery pokery near sizes until the point of turning what once was a reliable test into utter nonsense. Some manufacturer count the fork size, some only count the frame size, some exchange their minds mid-year, and most vary considerably between different models of indistinguishable brand.

So, don't E-bay. Go to the bike store and ride some bikes. That is fun too! You'll get what you have need of and want that way.

Case surrounded by point with the sizing, here's an example that you can examination drive. The larger, or appropriate fit is quite slow, while the smaller, showing "epic seatpost" is. . .if I utter how fast, you won't believe it. Diamondback Edwood "econo-cross" class isn't a sportive mountain bike, but can like greased lightning (or not) demonstrate the effects of the modern frame sizing on speed.

Now with the frame sizing covered as utterly adjustable rather than a reliable index, you're ready to walk to the bike store, test drive and of late get the one that make you WANT to ride.

While that is paramount and you should never settle for smaller quantity, there is one more bit.

Mountain bikes come in sport-specific arrangements. Don't skip things with the cross bike and don't expect any road speed from a double-boinger. One is for road, one is for jump, and they don't like respectively other. ;) In the U.S. there's not much availability of do-it-all bikes, because of issues such as profits and marketing (need 5 bikes to do 5 jobs). You'll need to own some idea of what your expert club uses or trail requires as far as bike type.
In fact, the local club is the best place for information, although it should be temper to what best fits your individual needs.

And enjoy fun! Don't settle for less.
the bike that fell comfortable
I am in your stage range and found that a 19 or 20 works best for me. I'd try the 19 if I be you.
What ever suits u.But i think the 17.5" will be fitting for u...

Why no US Cycling communication on Yahoo Sports - Cycling category?

Question:Why is there no US Cycling report on Yahoo Sports - Cycling category? Is there some other place that I can jump to find the US cycling news within Yahoo sports?

The US Open Cycling Championship was within Richmond VA yesterday. Today it is on TV on NBC. No mention of it in the cycling communication. What is up with that guys?
Answers:

Unfortunately, cycling does not own the following in the US that it does elsewhere surrounded by the world. There are many loyal followers, but it is not the "peoples sport" as it is contained by Europe. Check out velonews.com or cyclingnews.com to up to date race coverage.
Cause it's not really a sport??
It simply does not hold the following that it has surrounded by Europe. Contrary to the above comment, cycling is a SPORT involving more athletic prowess than most.

Does anyone believe Floyd Landis?

Answers:

I'm deeply disappointed to say-so it, but no I don't believe Floyd's declarations of innocence.

1. His biggest complaint is that the conducting tests lab leaked information, violate their protocols. He's not exactly saying that he's innocent, lone that he didn't have time to prepare his response because it be leaked to the media first. It's the classic defense tactic of putting the accuser on trial.

2. He can't come up with a consistent explanation for the theory test results.

3. He uses weasel phrases like "I am not on a doping program" (which doesn't exclude a one time use) and "I enjoy never ingested any prohibited substances" (as opposed to injection or a testosterone patch).

4. Phonak is a squad with a history of doping scandal (Tyler Hamilton, and a couple other riders caught up surrounded by the pre-Tour scandal).

5. If I were concerned going on for a urine test at the come to an end of the stage, I might try to dilute the sample by drinking sea all time long.

I have read that an overnight testosterone patch will give support to speed recovery. Sure it doesn't build muscle, but that's not what Floyd be after. He needed a great overnight recovery to boost his ceremony in the following days. I estimate he was desperate to go and get back contained by the race, established to take a chemical back and has in a minute come up snake eyes. It breaks my heart -- I want to believe that was the greatest ride I've ever see -- but I think he cheated.
HELLS NO!!
No, he doesn't look resembling someone that has greater testosterone, if he did he'd have more muscular features.
I moderately do, but still from what I read and that guilt in his behavior and eyes I focus he could be innocent or GUILTY! Still he does seeem truthful.
No but this will probably go on forever close to barry bonds.
I DO CAUSE THE FRENCH HATE THAT THE AMERICANS KICKED THERE *** EVERY YR I THINK HE WAS SET UP
Call me crazy, but I believe the guy. I don't doubt that the tests showed traces of synthetic testosterone, or that his t/et ratio be abnormal.

On the other mitt, experts agree that testosterone will do an athlete no good when taken the morning before a narration. It can aid in building muscle, but it take weeks before the results are striking.

It also doesn't make sense that the stuff be detected on one day and at no other time during the TDF.

There be no doubt going on for his victories at the Tour of California, Paris-Nice and Tour de Georgia. Why did he want to start doping now?

The full thing doesn't incorporate up. Floyd seems bona fide to me. I think it's the French who've cracked. They're ruining the TDF.
Yes I believe him. at hand must be some explanation for this test.
They tested him 8 times during the tour.
My grasp is that this kind of drug does not afford you more power just for the sunshine, you need to rob it for awhile before it would backing if at all.
It is a bum wrap and it will droop in in attendance.
I believe him for a number of reason:
1. Stage winners are automatically tested. Anyone that would consciously take something resembling that would not be stupid enough to win the stage, and Landis' troop manager who be right with him would not enjoy allowed that either.
2. The ICU (or doesn`t matter what it is) let alot of wounding information leak out from the origin, which is against their rules. The information isn't even verified, but they knew it would be verified. This shows they any willingly do not follow their own rules, or own people within their midst that don't, and that completely blows away any test credibility or any statements that they may own made or said they have made.
3.Landis be Armstrong's right-hand man for years, and he sacrificed his own concert to help someone else for adjectives of that time. It does not match up that he would adjectives of a sudden become selfish and cheat to win.
4. I saw his interview and I believe him. I've worked amongst lying criminals for the closing 21 years and I think I know when someone is lying, and he wasn't.
5. The French tried to capture Armstrong as well. It be rediculous, and I don't believe this sample that they enunciate they have found from 99 that they a moment ago happened to find and exam all of a sudden.
6. The French are not above see. They sank the Rainbow warrior, Green Peace's ship that be protesting their atomic tests contained by the Pacific. That has be proven Also, at a French airshow, they covertly crashed a French jet into a Russian SST that would hold been competition for the Concorde. That have been proven.
7. The French hold been outraged whenever outsiders win their race. That happened near each American leading the Tour. And it happened near Senna in Formula One when the Brazilian passed Prost for the front in the precipitation at Monaco. They were shocked and stopped the see because of rain, bringing the final completed lap put a bet on to where the Frenchman be leading, giving the win backbone to the Frenchman.
8. The French love controversy, protests, and turmoil. Nothing against them, it's just the channel they are.
9. Most people newly cook and eat their food and are delighted, but the French have to mess beside it until you cannot even tell what it be. Same with the Tour this year. First they throw out partly of the best ingredients, and then after we still hold one of the best Tours ever, they have to dump a can of hot sause into the mix and ruin it adjectives after the fact.
10. I could turn on, but I think I'll be in motion have something to get through instead. ;).
I believe Mr. landis, If he was tested 8 times and 3 blood test, and that's for the TDF, not counting his other wins and other test,Someone just doesn't dope one time, Why would someone dope knowing if he finished contained by the top 3 knows that you will be tested. It doesn't construct since. something stinks in France.
not guilty
I do. I meditate he honestly doesn't know how the tests turned up positive. Think of how you'd counter in that situation. You know you didn't do anything wrong, so how could this start? You'd rack your brain for any possible explanation, and that's exactly what Landis has be doing. This is not a case of "making up excuses", this is a suitcase of someone who's been wronged.
Guilty!
The force he used on Stage 17 is completely possible and here's why. If you watched stage 17, he be eating and drinking similar to crazy, and if i kept eating perkiness gels and bar and use 70 bottles of water, i dont expect i would bonk. On top of that, cycling includes strategy, something which he used for the race. It be a predominantly mountain stage, which means it is totally individually powered, no peloton drafting you, except on the short flat earlier the final mountain where he did lose time. And he is one of the best downhillers contained by the peloton, whihch means if one of the guys contained by the front of the peloton arent also one of the best descenders, he is yet again putting time on them. The other contenders didnt want to put out an physical exertion on other climbs besides the last, so they took it easier and go slower and yet again, Floyd lost for a time more time on the last climb because he be weaker, but made it up on the decent because he decends better than Satsre. Also, long solo breakaways are exactlly how general public won the tour from the beggining to the years of Bernard Hinault, so people be doing this before activities enhancing drugs were used. His coach even said that i.e. the way he trains, long and solo after stage 17 surrounded by the oln post race show.

Now, epitestosterone, approaching testosterone can be taken as a drug, which means that you can enjoy high level of testosterone but a normal ratio. He tested for a suspicous ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone. Now he would own to be so stupid that if he was doping, he forgot to pinch any epitestosterone the day he know he was going to be lower than intesnse speculation because they do make their strategy formerly the race starts, and you would own to be really stupid to do that.

Now, cycling to the French and Europeans is like baseball and football within America. If a French baseball player or team come into America and won the World Series and got MVP, i surmise Americans would be very angry too.

In conclusion, the exploit he accomplished be absolutley possible, if he was doping, why wouldnt he be taking epitestosterone beside it, and cycling is extremelly important to the French. I am not a complete beliver of the French conspiracy view either, but i do see it as a possibility. i own reason to belive Floyd didnt dope because of what i stated above. I hope you look at my answer near an open mind, and dont shun me because i might contradict what you belive.
From the difference between his previous presentation and sudden improvment, it seems that he or his troop medic/trainer are guilty.

In my opinion, he attempted to purchase the "normal" sport-centric high-grade cadeaver-derived testosterone and/or HGH (from departed humans--very popular--undetectable), but got cheated near a synthetic substitute.

While it is not his fault that he didn't organize to buy the regular drugs that almost everybody else was using, not getting caught is module of the sport, and getting caught should certainly enjoy the usual consequences.

However unlikely it is for the TDF leaders to be drug free, there is an equally unlikely possibility that the sample were tamper. Sample tampering is the most unlikely possibility.

Much more plausible is food/drink tampering so that he would indeed intake a excluded substance.

Of course the French were fairly upset at losing to an American. I'm thinking that his remarkable performance development may have given them a bulletproof means/excuse to knock him out of the see.

As betting on the TDF is quite lawful in France, the out of the blue winner face many thousands of enemy.

Therefore, it is most likely that he be cheated with his regular "supplement" purchase or that inferior drugs be added to his system without his erudition.
