Why does the combine even do the 40 patio run?
I think it doesnt prove anything. How habitually does a player run a 40 yd route? A player could run a bad 40 but hold great "game speed" and obtain drafted late because of it. What do you deliberate?Answers: Well..supposedly it tests your inline speed...but aside from your WRs/RBs/Corners, really how vital is that?
For lineman, a 10 yard, to tryout their burst...and that is dutiful enough.
And if they want to really get hold of a measurement that mode something...why don't they run it in full pad and cleats?
Guess what...soem of these track warriors suck beside pads on.
Jerry Rice be a 4.7 range within sneakers. how many empire actually caught him on the football grazing land?
All the test, minus the wondelic, i suppose should be done surrounded by full gear. How often are these guys gonna play within shorts and sneakers?
The truth is...it is more for PR than anything...with soccer players and track stars doing their runs unencumbered..it would gross our NFL athletes look slow and clumsy in comparison... so possibly they should have them run the skill test BOTH ways?
I agree...it doesn't prove anything....it's going to be totally different once they get on the paddock w/ all their pad on and stuff...and a lot of players enjoy gone on to have great career that didn't do well (a) the 40 patio dash. I don't know why they do it.
Did I return with a thumbs down because I used the word: "stuff"?
To test straight row speed.
Why do they bench press? How often does a player push 225 lbs straight forward?
But I do agree that it doesnt translate to football.
Yep over-rated. How copious failed workout wonders did Mike Sherman draft? I prefer players beside proven success at the college plane over the raw expert guys with potential, that show up on the draft boards due to some great combine workout. Tom Brady proved the 40 courtyard dash does not thing. The combine uses it test the athletic skilfulness of the player. However it does not measure intangibles close to instinctive running or the ability to read and take action on defensive.
the 40 yd soup?on is usually wrong it ralley doent matter jerry rice run a 4.68 one of the greatest wr of all time dengelo vestibule ran a 4.15 cb currently for the falcons It's not a guarentee of nouns, but it's a positive for it. It isn't game speed or show adjectives or break tackle speeds. If a player have a better 40 it is a little more possitive. The same go with bench, shuttle, cone, fly, etc.
Most scouts go near this very little of this information, the largest thing they progress with is their college work. But if you are deciding between 2 running back and they both looked good and played against impossible to tell apart teams contained by college you'd probably pick the one with better combine stats.
It be first introduced by a coach who wanted to see how vigorous a player can get down pasture from a punt. Usually a punter punts about 40 yard.
I do agree it is overrated but I do believe there should be some type of height to measure the possible capability of these NFL prospects.
Some times you question a players capacity and it is hard to inform in films combines confirms a players facility. I think combines also pass the small school guy an opportunity to show his stuff close to for instance dominique rogers-cromatie came out of cornerback from tennesse state he dominated divison II. he did not cover the speedsters from the PAC10 or the super athletes out of the SEC but some scouts question what his true speed would be running against the nations best, he run a 4.3 (*also keep register a 4.3 with apt film) that is devout enough to run next to anybody
Film is going to be the most important factor for these scouts. Keep surrounded by mind these scouts are making million dollar decisions they want as much factor and confirmation on the validity of a player's knack as much as possible. They look at how well your skills are and they look at weakness as well, they even interview you to see what type of individuality you are. As you see now-a-days how the game have changed and improved dramatically and the intention for that is speed.
I played at the college height and I can tell you SPEED KILLS.
The behind the times saying go, "you can't teach speed".
