Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is reported to be considering a lb92.2million buy-out of Manchester City.

The former policeman made his fortune with Thailand's biggest communications group Shin Corp and be interested in purchasing a 30% stake contained by Liverpool in 2004.

The 57-year-old, who is reported to enjoy a personal fortune of lb560million, is believed to own a property near Kingston-upon-Thames.

Thaksin's trial counsel, Noppadon Pattama, refused to confirm or deny the report but told Thai daily The Nation: "As soon as [Thaksin] finishes his vacation, I will ask him give or take a few it and hold a news conference."
