Question:I am looking for an Arsenal Gunners License Plate for the front of my car. No, they didnt pick the team or anything like that.
The team that were surrounded by the old Football League Division One at the call a halt of the 1991-92 season decided together to break away from the control of the Football League and set up their own competition, The Premiership.
They did this purely for financial reason. They felt that as the top clubs surrounded by the country, they should be getting a larger share of the television revenue that the Football League recieved from BBC and ITV. Additionally, they believed that they could negotiate better commercial sponsorship deal on their own than by allowing the Football League to do it on their behalf.
The Football League was powerless to prevent the split, and predictable that they had to co-operate near the new Premiership if the lower league were to retain any relevance.
Therefore, it be agreed that the promotion and relegation between the leagues would verbs just as it have done in times past. The only TRUE difference was that the older Division Two now become the top division in the Football League, although it be still effectively still the second tier of professional football in England losing the Premiership.
They were equal teams as previously qualified for Division 1 of the football league...solely the money changed.
