Question:Could he have done anything contained by Chicago without Jordan and Pippen? And short Shaq in LA, he's a nobody. Its funny, i was thinking in the region of this same question a few weeks ago. And I contracted that there is no passageway he is over-rated. 1st, its extremely hard to coach superstars. Its confident to get bleak players to buy into a coaches ideas b/c they can't win any other route. It's different with superstars, you hold to mold their egos and MAKE them play the coaches road. So what he did w/ Jordan, considering he played 5-6yrs before they be contenders is amazing. As for that L.A. team. Look at what eventually happen to Kobe and Shaq, all of that be kept under wraps and be tuned out so that they could win 3 rings. Sounds like a superb coaching charge. 3rd, that malone and payton team then, they were broken down and busted matured dudes who didn't play for the team. 4 ego are impossible to work no one could hold done it. I think that Phil Jackson is one of save the best coach ever to sit on the bench in the activity of basketball.
he's not overrated. look at the team near great individual stars who didnt win championships. yes phil jackson have had some of the best nba players contained by histroy on his teams and that have influenced his success. but i would also contend that not every coach could switch megstar players. so in that sense phil is a great coach. he also have a good system within place in the triangle offense.
as for the assembly room of fame 4 squad, that team wasnt as appropriate as you thought it might be. payton was already a shell of his former self when he get there. kobe and shaq also loathed each other and it be obvious. that troop had great players but no chemistry, and you cant win similar to that. so give the guy his props, he is a well-mannered coach. but dont forget that players win or lose games and the lakers are losing now because they arent a really good troop, plain and simple.
