Is racewalk a geeky event to do contained by track?

Question:I did race meander at my first middle school track run into and I was really flawless should I do it again or is it wierd?
Answers:

Don't listen to the person that told you see walking is a joke it's a without a flaw legitimate athletic event. If your really well brought-up like you said after stick with it too plentiful people spend foolishly their breath trying to decide what is and isn't a sport.

I urge you to read my cross-question why is race walking ridiculed and doesn't catch much respect? As well as the thoughtful answers that the 2 society posted. Look in parts of the world approaching Mexico, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Spain, Italy and China they produce elite see walkers and nobody would say aloud they are not athletes. Race walking is respected in these nation as they know it's a legitimate module of Athletics.

Saying race walking is ridiculous , because it's singular a contest to walk the fastest is similar to saying a larger-than-life is stupid since it's only around who can run the fastest. It's not just roughly speaking the walking you have to revise the technique while walking fast over a pious distance which requires endurance and strength. Must population who make fun of this event would be suddenly disqualified or fall flat on their frontage.

You should know race walking have been a portion of the Olympics since 1908 (history of this event goes final to England 1775) as well as every IAAF World Championships. At the restricted international level the distances are 20km and 50km next to times of 1:19:40 and 3:38:46 at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

DONT DO IT! I used to run track, and the single people who competed within race walking be those individuals who were not moral enough to compete contained by any of the other dozens of track events. They were more concerned going on for winning something, anything, next truely competing. If you enjoy track, train frozen and find the distance that suits you, and that you enjoy best. Even if you are not the best contained by that event, at least you are competing and finding out how well brought-up you are. Personally I am shocked that the event is an Olympic event. It's an oxymoron. Trying to walk faster after everyone else? It's a joke right? Again, remember, in that is no shame in losing but in that is plenty shame in avoiding challenge. You will never find a competitive race ambler who can legitimately say 'I be a champion distance runner but fixed to switch to race walking.'

Bee. you hit the staple on the head. Why is it you never see kids contained by the neighborhood seeing who can walk the fastest? It's ironic that some of these posts estimate I'm discouraging you from doing what you like. Like Bee said, you beyond doubt should do what you like not do what you don't similar to just because you are well-mannered at it (i.e. racewalkers).

Jack. poor analogies. It's not about going as quick as you can regardless of the mode. It's going as fast as you can specific to the mode and the distance. Like Bee aluded to, growing up I remember exceedingly well race other kids on bikes, or seeing who was the fastest runner. Some kids loved tennis, others basketball, baseball, etc., etc. I never remember seeing, or even audible range about, kids competing for who could bearing the fastest. Legitimate sports exist in spite of organized events.

Dave, Pal, since you're curious, I never qualified for the Olympic trials. I never even run a marathon Dave. I be a distance runner in soaring school and college and even if during the offseason I have wanted to run a larger-than-life, I would not have qualified for the marathons. Guess what Dave, so what? The integral point is, as Bee points out, I competed. I didn't choose my events because I thought I might go to the Olympics someday. I enjoy the event first. What did I enjoy going on for it? The simplicity of it. It was here's the distance. bring yourself. first one across the finish splash wins. Race go regardless of wind rainfall or snow. Also, it wasn't just me vs. everyone else who stepped up to the procession, it was also me against me. Now, I don`t know there are kids who spatter in love next to the idea of the 'simplicity'(so simple the race have to be closely scrutinize with penalty being normal) of see walking. Maybe their adrenaline gets going over the thought of going up to a smudge and finding out who can cover a certain distance by WALKING THE FASTEST!

Look, everyone's within agreement. Do what you love to do. I'm just pretty positive that you didn't hear about see walking and say to yourself 'I LOVE walking fast'. I'm guessing, close to Bee, that you like the reality that you were really biddable more than the event.

Oh. Can someone tell me the gripping movie give or take a few racewalking? If it's a compelling sport, there must be one. Running have Chariots of Fire, Boxing has Rocky, baseball have The Natural.at least explain to me, how would that movie move about? Let me guess. It would be the same movie as 'Rudy' except instead of pursuing his dream, Rudy would find out he could notification in racewalking so he ditched what he really enjoy and started walking really fast.

P.S. no wound that you tried it. congratulations on being devout at it. If you were angelic at it I'm sure you'll also find yourself good at the non-weird, lawful, track events.
If you did good and you similar to it, don't worry going on for what other people regard as.

People say: capably why don't you just run if you want to attain from point A to point B fast. Walking for speed is silly.

Well why don't they of late ride a bike? That is faster than running. Why not just drive a vehicle?

Stick with it for a while, at least possible in middle university. Your high conservatory might not have walking race, so this might be your only opportunity. You can other do more running later.

I suspect if you are fitting at racewalking, then you will also be angelic at running.
Are you kidding? Track is a geeky sport! (But I scrounging that in a moral way!) Saying racewalkers do it because they can't run is roughly speaking the same as dictum runners run because they can't play football or basketball. Which is probably very true within a lot of cases, but without doubt not in adjectives cases. But there are like mad of very honourable runners who have turned to racewalking. Michelle Rohl and Deb Lawrence, both two-time Olympians within the the racewalk, were also many-time National Champion runners. Michelle qualified for the Olympic Marathon trials surrounded by '96 before making the Olympic squad in the racewalk a few months then. (To the poster who suggested you not racewalk: How many Olympic Trials hold you qualified for, Pal?) On the men's side, one of our top racewalkers now, Matt Boyles, is a 14:40 5k runner. He could absolutely go places as a runner, but he's chosing to racewalk. And even though he have some pretty good running credentials, he's a long opening from being the best racewalker within the US. The point there is that running and racewalking are both valid athletic events, but they require different attributes, lately as distance running and sprinting, or swimming, or cross-country skiing require different attributes.
Racewalking, by the way, can be deeply good cross-training for running. I instinctively don't train as a runner--I'm a racewalker--but I do jump into a local 5k a couple of times per year basically to shut up the naysayers like the clown above. I usually come contained by the top 3-5 with a +/- 17:30, almost entirely on racewalk training. When they tested us (the US National Team) and the Mexican National Team at the Oly. Training Center surrounded by Colo. Spgs. our physiological variables were on par beside elite runners.
Anyway, preserve at it. If you've shown talent, maybe you own what it takes to put together it to the top.

Congratulations on being really righteous at racewalking. It is a challenging sport and some of the world's best athletes are racewalkers, contained by my opinion. It is markedly not a weird sport - please consider that 1) it is an Olympic sport, 2) at hand are TONS of racewalking fans worldwide, and 3) walking nifty is actually MORE provoking than running at the same gait per mile, and you are less plausible to get injured walking than running.

Also remember that you should do the things that YOU similar to to do, regardless of what other people reckon. I know it is hard to be at variance, especially in middle university, but it is a good point to excel at something. Keep up the good work, and verbs to stay fit!
Let's not cloud the facts people. It's an event contained by which the goal is to see who can WALK THE FASTEST. That's a punch rank to a joke. Nobody outside of another racewalker take the event seriously and spare me the 'it's harder then it looks, it take a lot of form, it's respected within other countries (by the way, anytime someone uses the 'other countries' dash, tune them off. They drink dogs in other countries, children argue wars surrounded by other countries, and little girls are forced to marry in other countries. Just because another country give it their blessing dosn't make it o.k.).Anyway, kid, you're at a fork within the road. All you need to do is to be honest next to yourself. Is the appeal of racewalking built on the fact because you soak up the idea of self good, or is it you soak up the event for the event's sake. Maybe you really love walking fast. Maybe you and the kids contained by the neighborhood occassionally get together and see who can totter the fastest in small circles while your parents keep under surveillance intently making sure everyone has one foot on the ground at adjectives times. If that's the case, next go for it. If that's not how you play within your neighborhood then I'm guessing that in attendance are sports you really enjoy more. Put your verve there. People are going to try to ridicule me approaching they did Shane and they're going to be defensive because they become conscious the truth to what I'm saying and most racewalkers never adheared to that truth. What is that truth? In enthusiasm, follow what really interests you. Don't make decision because of the probablility of being rewarded. People who don't recognize this make bleak life choices. They study things contained by college that they don't enjoy, they carry jobs that might foot well but it dosn't miserable anything because they are not happy. Do the things you wallow in doing no matter how upright or bad you are at them. Success have nothing to do near how much money you make or how speedy you can walk (unless restricting your gait and walking vigorous is something you would do even if there wasn't an event for it).
