Why do Americans aid more around the Olympics than the WorldCup?
Question:Hi.
I'm planning on doing a research project on soccer's popularity in the U.S. While I be gaining information sources for the project, I realize that the Olympics' TV ratings in the U.S is much difficult than that of the Worldcup. Some people might read aloud that this is because soccer isn't popular here, but there aren't that copious sports played during the Olympics that is popular here contained by the U.S either. At smallest we have a professional soccer league explicitly known to enjoy an attendance of 15,000 per game contained by average.
#1. Do you think the Olympics is more watch by Americans because Americans see it as an event that is much more than in recent times a sports competition?
#2. Or do you think Americans are more interested surrounded by it because the U.S is good at it?
Answers:
The Olympics contains almost every sport on the planet, so it have a little bit of everything where on earth as the FIFA World Cup is soccer and, no disrespect to soccer, Americans don't like soccer much. Well, Americans do similar to soccer but not enough to follow it.
necause soccer isnt big here
Of the two, I would say-so that #2 is closer to the truth but it doesn't explain it all.
Soccer is a popular sport here, but it have more popular sports to compete against. There isn't an NBA, NHL, or MLB in Europe and around the world.
I muse too that many folks outside the United States blame us Americans for the insufficiency of popularity here that soccer has elsewhere when within fact, within is very little live coverage available here.
MLS is adjectives we have at the moment and instinctively, I think they are taking better steps than NASL did to gain popularity here.
You must consider that as children, we are possible to pick up a basketball, football, or a baseball long before we see a soccer ball around. Sports bar soccer have as huge a stature in American culture as soccer does contained by Brazil or England.
One could be asking "Why do Italians care more roughly the World Cup than the NHL playoffs?"
It's all relative to the culture and not necessarily a concious dislike of any one sport.
#1 - People contained by the U.S. watch the Olympics because they want to view Americans compete, especially in gymnastics, track, numeral skating, basketball. I don't think Americans survey it because its "more than" a sports competition - they watch it because they want to see Americans win!
#2 - if the U.S. soccer squad had greater nouns, then, MAYBE soccer would be more popular. But besides contained by 2002, they haven't had nouns. Plus, the best athletes in our society play basketall/football/baseball.
meand my friends study the world cup we don't root for the US but we watch the world cup. Olympics is solely good for basketball.
Because more Americans contribute at a higher horizontal and have much more of a fortune to participate within sports that are in the Olympics that play a part in, play or ever person in soccer at the plane of the world cup
Because it's the "Olympics" oooooooooooo
Not, it's the "World Cup" ooooooooooo
Also because this is the US and not Europe...they are crazy about their soccer near...
In response to your questions, I deduce that it's both...
To Americans, the Olympics is HUGE-especially if there are fitting teams...
I'm a devotee of the World Cup and I love it! Hopefully, in the adjectives, America will start to realize what they're missing...
Americans need breaks from watching things and soccer is the most drawn out sport next to no breaks that there is and to be precise the major sense why it will never be a ultra popular sporting event.
1 Americans like collection and they like drama. The Olympics is a collection show, but many of the smaller quantity popular sports are barely shown for their live competition. Bob Costas and company speak about the most dramatic parts over and over.
2 The Americans hold been principal the Summer Olympics with not a soul close behind them since the Soviet Union broke apart. The US does not bring in it out of the round robin in the World Cup
Does anyone consider that Chicago's proposed Olympic stadium within Washington Park could be a liability?
Question:Chicago has done a wonderful errand of setting forth an Olympic proposal which should attract a lot of interest from the IOC. Using Washington Park for the stadium is a fine nouns to the World Fair based within Jackson Park, Washington Park's sister to the east.
The two parks are connected with a wide open greenway, which runs through the University of Chicago campus. Stagg Field, the UC's football stadium, is immediately nearest to Washington Park, and in the UC's Big Ten days (prior to WWII) Stagg Field sit 50,000+ fans. So a stadium would be appropriate within Washington Park.
But an Olympic stadium? Stagg Field is also known as the location of the exceptionally first atomic reaction, which could attract copious negative aspects to the construction of the Olympic stadium. I could see the Olympic stadium attracting protestors, and even terrorists, to the UC campus because of this tie.
Is Washington Park a potential liability for an Olympic stadium?
Answers:
okay - keep contained by mind that the "Olympic Stadium" according to reports I've heard will be "conditional." I have no hypothesis how to make an 80,000 form stadium temporary. But, that's the plan.
According to what I've hear after the olympics are over - the stadium will be reduced to a 5,000 seat ampitheatre.
i'm pretty sure - at lowest possible i hope that some environmental feasability studies and tests be done to make sure that it is a protected place to build.
I'm still not 100 percent sold on a Chicago bid for an Olympics but - the USOC thinks it's top-notch...
Yes various people would die
