What are some suitable single-serving camp recipe?

Question:This summer I'm going to be working in a state park, and I'll be camp out in the park a bit than renting a place. I'm going to be doing most of my cooking either over a campfire, near a reflector oven, dutch oven, or on a small propane stove.

Does anyone know any good (affordable) recipe for this sort of thing? I also probably won't own refridgeration, so most of my ingredients will be dry or canned. One-pot recipe would be good; that agency I have smaller amount dishes to do. I'm expecting to eat like mad of food based around rice, noodles, and potatoes, so simple recipe along those lines would be great.

Thanks!

Check out some books by Buckskinners. I do a lot of military camp cooking with dried foods. You can get some very pleasing stews with dried soup mixes and uneven. If you're going to be out there a while, I would suggest erudition how to make sour dough bread surrounded by that dutch oven though. You can also use it to bake most desserts.

Probably the best suggestion I own though would be to find a book on the edible plants within the area you'll be camp in. Without refrigeration, fresh food is a boon. A angelic reference will also hold natural spices, coffee and tea substitutes, and the resembling.

However, I find that dried foods work out beautifully for extended camp trips as well. If you look around, you should be capable of find a source for dried fruits and vegetables, or better still, invest in a dehydrator and prep your own stuff back you leave. If you're not a bulky eater, you can fit about a months worth (2 veg and 1 fruit serving for 3 meal a day)of dried fruits and veggies in a standard sized cooler that can any be eaten dry or reconstituted for cooking. It will also cut down on the mass of your gear considerably, especially if you get a larger cooler and thieve your potatos in a dry form as well.

For me though, it lately isn't camping minus coffee. My favorite camp trick is to lift dandelion roots and bake them until they are almost ash, and to use the remains as a coffee substitute beside a little passionate chicory.

Have fun!
MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat) will do the trick. They are available at any military surplus store.

Something else to try is to wrap some hamburger, carrots, 'taters, butter, and spices contained by aluminum foil. Throw this in the fire and surrounded by about a partially hour, dinner is ready.

What is your favorite post-spawn bass lure to use within small northern lake?

Question:Please only answer this give somebody the third degree if you are an experienced bass angler who knows what he or she is discussion about
Answers:

I would enjoy to agree to Markus, try soft plastics. I caught a 5 lb largemouth on a YUM 4inch "dinger", it's like a senko type stick worm. I in fact let the row loose, and held the worm in my appendage, and threw it up into the air. I found that a sure "kerplunk" made the bass hit the worm like it be going out of style. I was darkness fishing in a calorific pressure, over-fished lake within western Pa. If it is rather hot, I would try a YUM 7 inch ribbontail worm. They produce great strikes from some nice bass. I would hold to suggest a slow retrieve with a few little jerk to make the tail flutter remarkably fast. It almost imitate a snake. Of all bass lures, I am the most confident using soft plastics. As other, keep your file tight when using plastics, and your rod at a 9 o'clock position. When you feel the bass rob the bait, lower the tip, reel within the slack, and set the hook with a righteous sweep up. I find that in my nouns that watermelon is the most productive color at anytime. I would suggest trying soft plastics in watermelon first, and afterwards when you can use that type of worm efficiently, possibly try other colors. Tight lines.
I like to use plastics. From my experience (30 yrs) zilch has be as beneficial as plastic bates. If the fish are not biting try using a smaller plastic. Texas and Carolina Rigs can produce plenty of fish. I am used to fishing in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

What determines the difference between fur and spine?

Question:I know cats and dogs have spike but muskrats and coons and fox have fur. What make it different
Answers:

The term fur refers to the body pelt of non-human mammals also known as the pelage (like the residence plumage in birds). Fur comes from the coats of animals; the animal's coat may consist of short ground hackle, long guard hair, and, within some cases, medium awn mane. Not all mammals hold fur; animals without fur may be referred to as "naked", as surrounded by The Naked Ape and naked mole rat.

Fur usually consists of two primary layers:

Ground pelt or underfur — the bottom layer consisting of wool hair which tend to be shorter, flattened, curly and denser than the top layer.
Guard spine — the top layer consisting of longer straight shafts of quill that stick out through the underfur. This is usually the visible level for most mammals and contains most of the pigmentation.
Hair is a filamentous outgrowth of dead cell from the skin, found only within mammals. Although many other energy forms, especially insects, show filamentous outgrowths, these are not considered "hair" regarding the permitted meaning of the permanent status.

The primary component of hair fiber is keratin. Keratins are proteins, long chains (polymers) of amino acids. Keratin proteins form the cytoskeleton (miniature skeleton inside a cell) of all epidermal cell. Keratin filaments run inside a cell from the inside of the outer membrane to weave a "basket" around the nucleus of the cell. Keratins are a principle part of the cell in the epidermis, mane, nails, feathers, hooves, horny tissues and the enamel of teeth.

In some species, it is mislaid at certain stages of existence. It projects from the epidermis, though it grows from hair follicles vast in the dermis. So-called "hairs" (trichomes) are also found on plants. The projections on arthropods, such as insects and spiders are in truth insect bristles. The hair of non-human species is commonly referred to as fur. There are variety of cats, dogs, and mice bred to have little or no noticeable hair.
