What are the legal rules for carrying a machete?
Question:I'm an avid hiker and amd looking to get more involved as a wilderness camper. For my birthday, my parents got me some equipment, including a machete. It has a 16-1/2" blade and (I believe) single sided (I haven't seen it yet but know what it is). You can see the specific blade in the link below. What are the legal ramifications of owning and carrying a knife of this size?

Answers:
"may be frowned upon or even confiscated in National Parks, but can be essential when one wishes or needs to go off the beaten track, where one may encounter thick vegetation. Also very handy for construction and collecting firewood. Can also double as a spade. "
before you carry it anywhere, check the legal status of that park or forest. call the ranger (or equivalent ) station and just ask. many will say that you can't, but it will never hurt to ask

Turkey hunting?
Question:how may i become a better turkey hunter?
Answers:
I am new to hunting this year and bag a 24lb goggler last week. I own learned a ton mostly from asking several, many question of those I trust that have hunted for years. Go hunting near someone that is experienced at turkey hunting, calling, etc. This is invaluable. I also monitor the Versus channel abundantly and learn a ton from this on behavior and customs of the wild turkey, habitat, and also how to call upon, when to call (and not), where on earth to sit, camo, etc, etc. Basically ask lots of questions, read outdoor magazine, watch hunting programs, etc. Also, you will want to find some good hunting estate that is KNOWN to hold turkeys. Find out where on earth they roost and feed. Get some fitting calls (owl, crow, box, slate, diaphram, etc). Use some conceivable decoys (hens, jake, etc). Find a apt spot and learn to be long-suffering and call that big Tom to you. There are lots of folks that are glad to contribute you answers if you ask them over a beer or two.
That is a good cross-examine. The best practice and training for most everything in existence is experience. Try to find someone who will take you turkey hunting and guide you the calls. First foot experience is key to study. If you cant find someone, your next best arbitrariness would be to watch hunting shows on the weekends or to buy a video from an outdoor store similar to Bass Pro Shops or something similar.
Just by doing it over and over. Also, you might want to go hunting beside someone who has be hunting turkeys for awhile. That's how I learned. I enjoy a friend who thinks the method to learn is by reading magazine, but he doesn't know too much. I think everything he have learned have been by hunting beside experienced hunters.
get blind, thats what worked 4 me and return with better at calling them in
practice, practice, practice...your calling and hunt as much as possible. i swot something new everytime i dance in the woods. also, read books by matured, experienced turkey hunters, like beam eye, he is one of the best.
