A slick. You chum by throwing slimy fish overboard. The fish shold be chopped up and soaking in bunker grease. Never throw all the bait overboard at once, you requirement to throw pieces and pieces to create a fish oil slick.

I live near Moro bay CA their is a lot of bay with Bat rays and sharks what is a good combo rod and reel?

depends how big the sharks are. i do my shark fishing in florida. depends what your most comfortable using (spinning or casting reel?) most of my reels are Penn spinners. i have a 8500 and a 9500 that are on either on something in the 10-12 foot range. my shark rods are all ugly stiks. they are spooled with 20# Ande and 60# shock leader tied to a 100# shock with a swivle rated for 200#'s tied to that. from there i have nylon coated 7 strand wire rated to 200#'s crimped to that with a 10/0 circle hook crimped. i usually use a 3 ounce egg sinker on the 100# shock leader. just depends on how rough the surf is. since none of the sharks ive caught were not bigger then 6 1/2 foot, its all i need. but i do plan on getting a bigger rod and reel for the big one that happens to come along. i do have a Penn Long Beach spooled with 40# Ande and the same setup as my others. what i use is able to handle the average shark up to bout 7 foot max. biggest ive caught on my rig set up has been 6 1/2 foot, so i couldnt tell you bout an experience with anything bigger.

Opinions on Walther P22 for home/personal protection!?
Question:The neighborhood isn't what it used to be. So I want to purchase something that will protect me and my house. Hows the stopping power of the P22? Range of cost for this pistol? Anything else I should know about this gun?

I own a P22 and explicitly what my wife has contained by her nightstand drawer. I have skilled her to shoot center mass and only stop shooting if the attacker is on the floor. I own never had a stoppage near CCI Maxi-Mags, but have have with adjectives the bulk ammo no matter what inventor. I am looking into getting her a HiPoint .40 S&W carbine. That will be something she can handle (she doesn't resembling the recoil of my Glock 23) and will provide plenty of punch on the acceptance end.
a .22 will most plausible not kill someone. i wouldnt trust p22 to protect myself. instinctively i could do more damage near my fists. unless you are lucky enough to take a head shot, it wouldn't do a total lot. go for something a bit bigger, such as a .40. normally i believe 9mm is the smallest gun that will stop a being.
edit: i also want to point out that if the motionless body is examined, and they find 20 rounds in the body, they might not agree that it be in self armour. one large caliber handgun bullet, or some head buckshot would look alot better in a self armour senerio. if there is evidence of b&e, and a departed body on your floor, with one bullet contained by the chest, you will not be charged with murder. also next to a 12 gauge, they take home non-lethal ammo that will disable, but not kill a person(such as a rubber slug).
great lil gun for target of plinking but i agree to rely on a 22 to protect your household...nope dont do it..unless that is adjectives you got. better than a ballbat...but in recent times a little bit better I reiterate for number 3 answer. it is better than zilch...I want to knock my target down when i hit center mass. my 22 wont do that. so i have to rely on cranium shots and surprise which i can do easily but the asker is strange and untrained. stopping power is just as uncomplicated to buy as a .22 get both!
Well, I would similar to to see the first two answers look down the barrel of a .22 and later try to get it from you. A .22 is small, yes, but any firearm is better than no firearm. I be told at the police academy that a .22 is bad because the bullet does not enjoy enough power to exit. Therefore,can do seriously of internal damage. Remember...it is not how big the bullet is, but where on earth you place it.
If you have no children contained by the house a short 12 ga shotgun is by far the best for home defense for someone with little to moderate firearms experience. Next, a .38/.357 revolver, afterwards a large bore (.45 or 9mm) auto. A .22 will ABSOLUTELY execute any and many human beings if used properly. Your mental enthusiasm and your opponent's will to get to you go off alot more room for error with a .22
If you do receive an auto-loader, practice until you are as automatic as the pistol... 1 misfire can ruin your day.
.22's Are not proper for self defense.
While they are capible of causing loss and great bodily harm, they hold no stopping power. You cannot count on even multiple shots to drop an attacker with a gun formerly he can shoot back.
I recomend a .38 special caliber revolver, if you are departed set on a handgun. They are easy to master and retreat is low, and the bullets have adjectives stopping power. A better choice would be a 12 or 20 gauge pump shotgun next to an 18 inch slug or "riot" barrel. A shotgun is much more intimidating, not to mention much more terminal, than a handgun. Concealability is not an issue in home defense.
Short barreled repeating shotgun. You can cut the vat to 18" minimum. Go for a 12 guage as it is the most common bore. Number 2 shot is big ample to blow someone clear to the morgue but not so large as to permeate walls and hurt someone on the outside. If you have issues around killing an intruder, ask yourself this cross-examine: Had I rather be interviewed by the police or examined by a coroner? It is not to be taken weakly, that decision to shoot or not shoot.
They are great,catch one and practice often! All the perp know is that a firearm is pointed at his head.
A P22 is a great and fun gun to shoot personal protection also.. beside laws in our time u dont want to kill anyone and a bigger caliber will more than predictable do so. U put 2 or 3 or more for that matter within a theif and it will put him on the ground long enough for the cops to arive to clutch him away, Shoot him with a 9mm or something along those lines look to be talkin for the guy layin surrounded by ur floor. A P22 offers a compact size and not much see (so good for ur wife) alot of uncluttered goodies that u can buy for it and enough to transport care of theif if one runs within on ur family. I own one of these guns and wouldnt trade it for any big cal. handgun.
I purchased one of these for my daughter a while put a bet on and they are nice little pistols. I have not problem next to that gun at all. However I would not consider a pious choice for self defense. Without going on for too long, here are some things to consider:
The only physical reason you should shoot someone is to stop them from doing something that threatens you or your loved ones or someone you deem as an innocent. You want, and obligation for them to stop and right then and within.
The wimp factor aside, (that's the guy that just falls over when shot even if the bullet one and only grazed him) a person will be in motion done for only a fixed number of reasons.
A hit to the main nervous system will roughly do the job contained by the shortest order. But that mechanism a hit to the brain or spine.
You can puncture one or both lungs and they lack of oxygen to the brain will eventually mete out them to collapse.

Certainly shot placement is the most important factor. Bullet construcion is another influential factor and they really don't make a self defense round for a .22. Granted a .22 is far better than nil but there are several better choices.
Also rimfires are far more prone to misfire than modern centerfire cartridges are. But I do conceed that this is less of a concern than it used to be.
If you purchasing one a pistol because you construe your life, or the enthusiasm of a loved one might depend on it some day, after choose a round designed with stopping a human preditor contained by mind.
If you are new to shooting later the .22 is a good path to get started and practice ammo is cheap. Learning trigger control, verbs alignment and follow through are generally easier near a quality .22. But when you consider adjectives the better choices for a definive pistol that are available, I would not consider a .22 in that role.
I am a revolver aficionado and if it's your first firearm i recommend a revolver with a 4'' cask Smith&Wesson has a great assortment of them i shoot a .357 M686 combat magnum this give you the option of using .38 Specials wich i recomend for surrounded by home defence as they hold less accidental of going through walls and if need be a .357 is totally powerful much more than some of the autoloaders out there. Remember guns are a protection provided by the founding father and not only for safety against an intruder but they are fun also and i practice often.
For home defense buy a 12 guage pump shotgun if the nouns of a round being chambered doesnt stop them the shot will . use 3in mag number 2 shot and get hold of a hunting lisence . It will look bettter if you ever have to be in motion to court or answer any questions
Walther have always made fine guns but the small autos tend to be finicky if you hold a handgun go beside a double action revolver near a 3-4 inch barrel . surrounded by 357 or 44 S&W not 44 magnum
I would advise against a .22 automatic pistol of any gentle due to their finicky behavior. They are not as reliable as a center-fire revolver or automatic. Rimfire cartridges DO HAVE A FAILURE RATE and contamination due to loose bullet/casing assembly (go ahead and twist the bullet-it moves). A Taurus 82 (JUST AN EXAMPLE-NOT A SUGGESTION) can be have for the same price (if not cheaper) than a p-22 and is a cinch to shoot contained by 38SPL.
Don't play with a .22 when your enthusiasm is at stake. Get a Glock chambered for the 40S&W, or better yet a Glock 10mm.
They vend for about $500. Your natural life is worth far more than that.
