Why doesn't someone skimming across the surface of hose sink?

Answers:

Newton's 1st law of motion.
An raise objections moving in a direction tend to remain moving in that direction until acted upon by a force.
Gravity works on the river skier, but then she have moved forward on the tow rope. When she lets run, she does sink.

Water has some surface rigidity. Enough to get the skier started while moving ahead.

Kawasaki Jet Ski?

Question:I'm looking into buying a 1997 Kawasaki STX900. Here is the link http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/33...
Anything to worry about with this model?
I'm not familier with winterizeing & summerizing a jet skii is? I'm trying to find info on websites, but nothing is useful. He is offering it for $3k. It doesn't have an hour gage, but he says he hasn't used it very much in the last 2 years. He said he has taken really good care of it. Any thoughts??!?! thanks

The link to craiglist was bad, I couldn't check out the Kawi. I'm editing some links that will hopefully help answer your questions, check back later on as I edit...

The kawasaki stx900 is a 3-seater, weighs around 560 pounds unloaded, has a 3 cylinder two stroke engine. Kawasakis have a very efficient jet pump design, the engine is a bit of a gas hog, but generally reliable. The hull is a good design, stable and able to handle choppy water.
For the $3k, the ski should be in very good shape, with no work required. Locally, the price range for this type of ski would go for $2700 - $3500 depending on condition and accessories included. If possible, I'd have a watercraft mechanic check it out, he could tell how good the engine is based on a compression test, as well as spot potential problems. I think you'd enjoy this model more than the Seadoo you had linked earlier, this is a more "fun" ski, but probably uses about 33% more fuel due to the larger engine and triple carbs.

"Winterizing" is what you do to prep your ski for storage when the season turns too cold to go out on the water until next summer. "Summerizing" is when you return your ski to it's riding condition. ( check spark plugs, top off gas as needed, add oil as needed, check cables and linkage, check to make sure ski is undamaged, make sure battery is charged, fire up engine to make sure everything is working, etc. ) Summerizing also includes making sure your trailer is tow ready ( tires are good and properly inflated, bearings on the wheels are greased, brake/signal lights work, etc. )

Question:Can you give me some tips?

the effortless way to do one is purely to learn how to do one on a trampoline next when u can do that tie a rope to a tree or something and put a handle on it after pu a board on ur feet but short the fins. an old skateboard deck near straps on it for your feet works really okay because it doesnt waeigh that much . after u can do this perfectly travel out and try in on the sea but be prepared for alot of falls because it will happen

Kayaking within a flash flood?

Question:I live in the Texas hummock country and we are in a severe flash flood right presently. I have kayaked white-water and am greatly experienced but do not know how safe this is. I be just wondering from anyone who might know if this is something that those do, kayak flash flood conditions i mean. The individual thing realy is the debree that seem dangerous. Anyone know if general public do this or not? If there is close to clubs that go out chasing floods to kayak down swolen streams and rivers? Sounds fun to me!
gratefulness
Answers:

the debris is a primary concern but these kinds of flow change can and will create new rapids or features surrounded by the river that you won't know about or expect. this as you know could be a indisputable problem, in my experience it is unnerving to be contained by the water near large logs running the rapids beside me, big water is a intact different beast, some stuff will clean up out while other stuff will turn into a drowning machine, I developed a natural respect for high wet the hard means of access, I almost drowned. you obviously hold boated some, that much I can tell, use your commander here some stuff is obviously boatable even at flood stage but some stuff is newly idiotic, use your leader.

as my dad used to say "don't become a statistic"
I'm not a great kayaker, but this sounds similar to trouble to me. If you're a really experienced kayaker looking for something challenging, next kayak some Class IV or V rapids rather than try do so something unpredictable resembling a flash flood. I know Texas has some great rivers to kayak, plenty to do minus risking your life.
Even experienced kayakers can win killed surrounded by flash flood conditions. High water is exceptionally different from flash floods-kayak groups do not follow flash floods-instead, they often are call upon to help empire who thought they could handle a flash flood and win stuck in a strainer. Most of the death in this nouns are people who skip in a canoe or kayak contained by flood conditions and drown and/or die of hypothermia. I've been involved next to a local canoe/kayak group, and use to teach canoeing and kayaking at our local parks and respite department as well. I hear a lot of horror stories at the swiftwater rescue training events...
There be clubs. They don't survive very long. I'm sure it be a rush like nothin' else.
Make sure that you own a will before you turn out and die.
It can get pretty unlikeable when family member start to fight over your possessions.
