Who makes the S-2 Sailboat and is it a well made boat?

Answers:

The S-2 is an excellent boat. They are not made today unless you order about 6. They are made by Leon Slicker, he makes Pursuit and Tiara. They are listed as S-2 Tiara and they have a website. We have a 9.2 and love it. We have sailed it for 8 years. When we had it surveyed the surveyor said he loved to survey S-2s because they were so well built. We are in MD and there are about 6 in our immediate area, even though they are a Great Lakes boat.

How to get something done an Eskimo Roll?

Question:Please explain the steps of doing an eskimo roll in a kayak.
Answers:

A trial boater, right on!

Here are the steps as best as I can articulate them, but to have a truly bomber roll, you hold to "feel" it more than do the steps.

Try to take a breath in the past you go over. Calm yourself. Your first quirk as you go over will be to try to angle your head up to the surface and that will put you within a completely wrong position.

Put the paddle down along the side of the boat on the side converse your dominant hand, (if you're right-handed, the propel goes on the disappeared side of the boat). If you're already upside down, your hands will be going up towards the surface along one side of the boat. At matching time bend forward as far as possible so that your head is nearly touching the front deck. If you're a apprentice and you begin to be in motion over in a fast, you can start to get into this position even formerly you go completely over.

Next, spawn sure your paddle blades enjoy broken the surface. When you're practicing in flat hose down, you can even slap the surface with your propel to get a get the impression for the proper position. Rotate the paddle slightly so that your forward shoulder comes tight into your chin.

Now here comes the tricky piece. What gets you adjectives is a combination of a hip snap and a sweeping motion of the paddle. Twist your hips towards the surface at impossible to tell apart time as you sweep out and back near the paddle. Keep the stride up on the surface and resist the urge to pull directly down on it close to a handle.

Done properly, your hips will come out first and your chief will be the last cut of your body to come up towards the back deck of the boat. (There is a more advanced instability where you can save your head down on the front deck.)

Once you've get a fairly correct roll, you should get out surrounded by the rapids as often as possible. You want to be a short time ago as confident in your roll surrounded by a rapid as you are contained by flat water. As you get hold of better, you will learn that mastering bracing technique and boat handling to keep you adjectives are more important than your rolling.

My experience as a launch boater was that until my roll be second nature, I be terrified of going over contained by just nearly every rapid. It made me strained and I did not particularly soak up my first couple of trips.

Stick with it because it take a lot of practice. Once you're confident surrounded by your roll, all those rapids that used to startle you will suddenly become your personal playground.

Good luck!
you hang to the side and push your way your way around
