How do you relax previously a skating competition?

Question:This is my third one and I'm in the pre-pre next to axel level. Also, how do I produce my axel more consistent besides practicung a lot? Is near any trick or tip that I can use?

I have relaxing issues too for competitions here are some things that relieve
tensing and releasing your muscles starting form your foot and up to your head
taking a reflective breath and holding it in while tightening your stomach muscles (there is a science beside this about the chemicals contained by your brain so it should work)
eating something to relax you close to chocolate or candy, just not too much
visualize your program
doing yoga and meditating
wide breaths in and out
drinking dampen (this one really helps me since you attain dehydrated as you grasp more nervous)
getting to know the rink before you compete within and planning through how your program will look on the ice
for some common sense if a friend is with me I discern more relaxed
anything else that makes you positive

As for the Axel try doing lots off the rime to get your muscles into remembering what they're supposed to do and if it help to visualize it
I'm not a pro or anything but something that always happen is it think and realize that What ever happen happens... youll take better if you get hurt too. you could get hold of adrenaline running to... that helps me relax...(sounds resembling an oxy moron but it isnt) xD
listen to just any music surrounded by general, not freshly your program song. picture the perfect program (what sasha cohen does). distract yourself beside other things. whatever you find help you take the stress stale

i can't do an axel, off rime i'm still 1/2 a rotation short so can't help near
Relaxing - Get a good night's sleep the dark before and brand name sure to eat properly. Bring a nourishing lunch and water beside you, just to variety sure you're not having cast-offs food because that's all the snack bar offered.

While you're waiting, you can put on your iPod and listen to music. If you listen to your program music, close your eyes, breath normally, and suppose yourself skating the perfect program over and over again. If you're the easily upset sort, don't watch the skaters up to that time you - it'll just distract you from your own program.

As for consistency, don't merely jump and pray - really focus on doing the entire dive properly, even if it is boring. LOL It's important to work on technique every time you skate - it help your body learn how to do the lunge without your brain have to think as much.

Also, row to save EVERY axel you try. This help you learn how to rest the jump when it really counts. Lots of skaters transport off and consequently give up because the launch wasn't perfect - in good health, in a competition, you want to try and release that jump, so practice the amass!

Also, try different entrances for the jump, which make practices more interesting and gives you collection in choreography.

breathe, listen to some soft music, stay quieten, and hang out next to some friends. Bring one friend who doesnt skate, and try not to watch others who skate back u. u dont want them to give you the "chill". stay focused and you'll do great. sometimes ear plugs relief to keep the boom level down. and if ur really into buying something pricy to maintain the noise out but to listen to some music, try using airplane headset :) they are sooo good but ill-fatedly they are very pricy.
I typically stretch, and listen to music on my iPod, and just sensitive of hang out. I don't believe about what I want to do, and I just try to infer happy thoughts, and it help.
Honestly, I always get too nervous to relax - HA! Everyone have great suggestions for you here . . . but you gotta find a "formula" that works best for you.

I think I probably tried adjectives of the above . . . and what worked best for me was to do anything was going to save my confidence level up. Whenever possible, I truly warmed up at another rink as close to the comp time as possible (luckily I be able to do this surrounded by most cases). I always did best when I be truly warmed up. And next at the actual warm up I'd solely walk through my program . . . and consequently do the moves when I needed it to count - in the actual comp! I never relaxed til I get off the rime after my program . . . that's just the road I was!! Everyone is different!

Just be calm and listen to music a moment or two...warm up...run somewhat...and then sit down and close your eyes and conjure up your program (with your eyes closed.) Close out everything else around you and think of your program. Hope this help.
There isn't much you can do if you are a nervous character. Just try doing something that will keep your mind bad the competition. Try to listen to music, read a book, or watch a movie. Just find something to save you distracted so you aren't constantly thinking about it. To gain it more consistant all I can vote is practice, practice, practice. Make sure you are fully following through with adjectives the steps and maybe ask your coach if at hand is anything you are doing wrong that could be improved on to be paid it better.
You really shouldn't be nervous, my biggest crowd be about 350 family. My strategy is chickens in underwear! LOL
all right,what i do for relaxing is to think of it as a practice.i close-fisted there are other somebody watching you during a practice like your coach or relatives members,so i meditate of it as a practice.for your axel,remember that you need to bring your foot straight through and snap it surrounded by the air.it's unsophisticatedly a waltz jump subsidise spin.so those really help you beside your axel.good luck!!
I do open breathing exercises. Also, I try not to stay too focused, or else I acquire really nervous. I run around greatly, to keep busy. Don't sit around too much. Also, joking around help because it calms you down. Don't mull over too much about what you enjoy to do. Also, when I am alone, I give myself pep parley. You need to update your self to calm down (a technique I learned) and it in truth helps. Tell yourself that it's ok to mess up. That agency if you do mess up, it won't ruin the rest of your program. Tell yourself to strive to succeed but you will accept anything that happen. If you can feel comfortable beside all this, consequently you are mentally ready. Also, after you will skate better.



For your axel here are some exersises:
For a nice exercise, stand at a stand still walk through your take-off and next jump, but don't rotate. Just see how dignified you can get, and afterwards land on your moved out foot again.

For landing, I found it helpful to do backsctrach spin and later check out when you still have closely of speed. That will give you control for landing. And alternative to the checking out is kick out (like a single loop) and then check out. Working on the two of them is particularly helpful.

When you're standing at the wall, hold on to the wall and obverse it. Cross your legs like your nouns position. Jump and check out. Repeat desired number of times (at least do 4). This help your landing.

This next exercise is completely similiar to the one before. When you're standing at the wall, hold on to the wall and facade it. Cross your legs like the heavens position, except put both toe picks on the ice. Now hop up and down 10-20 times, or desired number of times. This helps you on your landing, alot.

How can i tell how old my skiis are?

Question:i just bought a pair of used skiis off ebay for a good price and was wonderinf if there is any site or anything twith older models of skiis on it? they are Rossignol cut 3 skiis and the are a shaped ski so i would imagine they are within 7 years old but im just curious

There are some avenues you could explore if you are curious:

Google the ski, look for matching graphics, since they change the graphics every year. Once you find matching graphics, see if the site posts the year the skis were made.

Go to the library and look through ski magazine gear review issues to find them. Usually there is only one major publication yearly that lists all of the major new gear. Your skis should be in one of those. The problem is, the library may have thrown away the old copies.

Take the skis to a shop. They should be able to give you a ballpark year, if not an exact year.

Since you bought the skis off of ebay, you probably want to take them to a shop and have the bindings inspected and adjusted, so ask the shop people when you stop in.




I want to buy used skis. If they hold the bindings already on are they adjustable resembling at the resort?

Question:How do you adjust bindings? The person earlier me had a size 9 boot I hold size 8.

Since there is such a small difference between boot sizes you should be capable of adjust the bindings to your boot size without redrilling. There is a difference between binding models, but usually here is some sort of catch contained by the back of the heel of the binding that can be lift to move the heel piece forward. It isn't like the bindings you attain on rental skis in that you can not adjust the size like mad, but it is the same concept. Adjusting the DIN is a different story. There is usually a big screw type piece at the front of the toe and final of the heel that can be adjusted next to a straight head screwdriver. You will see the solidity setting move as you adjust this. If you do this on your own be sure to not overcrank. This will essentailly lock your foot in place and can basis injuries when you fall if you do not eject from your bindings at the right time. All of these adjustment are easy ample to do on your own, but you should research the correct settings and methods online or by asking questions at your ski shop. Mistakes can really make happen injury.
yes. they're are screws that will adjust the make well, but I would recommend taking them in and have a professional do this because they need to be used to for your weight. If they aren't, they could pop to untimely or late. unpaid being doomed to failure. broken bones
You want to be careful near this. Sometimes in writ to adjust bindings to a different persons boot they necessitate to remove the bindings and drill new holes contained by the skis to reattach them. If the skis have already be drilled more than once a reputable shop won't do it. Since you're close in size to the other party maybe it won't be a problem. Maybe you could hold a shop check them first before you buy?
No, you cannot adjust the binding for a different size boot on the fly. It is key for safety to own a ski store size it up properly for you. The DIn setting on the binding can be changed, which tells the binding how much pressure to hang about for until rleasing, but this is also a safety entry and it is not reccomended to touch this as the ski store will have taken your stage and weight which are a function of the din setting

Not sure of the year but that is an ancient Burton Twin and by old I expect 10 or 12 years. The board itself isn't bad but here are definitely better option available today not to mention that I doubt you'd find one in clothed shape. Those bindings are absolutely awful and since that board is pre 4x4 or 3d you'd be rugged pressed to find good bindings for it

EDIT: It most noticeably is NOT an 06 Custom.
im not sure what model it is but it is a few years old. it doesnt look similar to any of their curent stuff
If you are looking at getting a board than you really want something newer. They have really changed the widths and some of the styles. What i would utter is to go and chat to someone at a sport shop. Get their opinion because they are going to be capable of give you the best information. But you do not want a board that is to say that old.
looks approaching an 06 custom. if you dont know what kind it is consequently all your judge it on is looks. thats a bad theory. sure i like my boards to look cool, but what really matter is how they perform
