Why do rime skaters find dizzy when they spin?

Answers:

spinning creates an imbalance within the fluid in your inner ear thus making you dizzy.
Skaters use "spotting" to avoid dizziness. They find a oil lamp or object to direct their attention. They attempt to spot this spot as they turn.
try spinning..afterwards tell me what happend?
they don't go and get dizzy because their inner ear has well-educated to accept the spinning motion through repeated practice. But they DO catch carsick. :(
yes, we do. but after awhile it goes away

How would you explain the technique of snowboarding to a trainee?

Question:my friend is kinda just starting to snowboard... but he sucks. so i stipulation a good track to explain the "technique" of snowboarding to him...

his trouble is just the belief of cutting. he in recent times goes straight down and falls when he tries to turn... i construe its because he doesn't keep his legs loose. but i want some more oppinions...
Answers:

The one piece of proposal that helped me the most be this. When making toe side turns bring your knees together and when making heel side turns push your knees away from eachother.

You should also try to get him to snowplow (staying on one turn-up and sliding the down the hill close to that) so that he can get the reaction of sliding on the snow in a controlled track.

But it sounds like you might want to suggest that he bear a lesson. A professional snowboard instructor could explain things to him much more easily and he should know how to pick it up faster that way.
Tell your friend it's simply like skating one and only his feet are glue to the board. Same technique for stopping (on skates) right or left shifts his bulk, only instead of stopping he steers. Stop on the right and steer to the vanished, stop on the left and steer to the right.
Cheers
ok try unfolding him tooo start of just side slipping but hold his legs bent when he wants the board to run into the fall stripe (straight down the hill) tell him too extend his legs while shifting his bulk to the front of the board.once the board is in the decline ling tell him after too slowly bend his legs and move his wieght slightly over the edge he is turning onto this will allow him too turn once he have turned he then shifts his freight back to the hub of the board this will make the board return to a side slip obtain him too do it several times till he is confortable then try return with him to link his turns

i hope this help =]

Why do they want bobsleds to be heavier? I thought lighter things be faster.?

Answers:

Gravity states that if you drop 2 things at the same time, regardless of substance they would hit at the same time. Yet a larger mass rolling down a hummock will gain more speed. Just watch the difference contained by speed from the skeleton & bobsled teams.
in that is friction, they can lean into turns better
Something thats heavier on ice go faster
